Happy New Year from Grow Piqua Now Greetings!
As we come to the close of another year, it's important to reflect on the accomplishments we've celebrated and those opportunities we have yet to realize. This year will be remembered as one in which our economy began to slowly recover from the Great Recession. At the national level, companies large and small began to reinvest in new equipment and facilities. The same has held true locally in Piqua. Unemployment, on the other hand, remains at levels that continue to challenge our community and our country. There was good news locally in 2010. Among the more notable successes were the opening of the Trupointe corporate headquarters and the addition of dozens of new jobs at Evenflo. And, those were not the only projects the community would celebrate in 2010. From small business investments by Faith Driven Fitness, Hot Head Burrito and Quint Creative Group to product and facility expansions from major manufacturers French Oil Mill Machinery Company, Hartzell Fan and Industry Products Company, businesses were investing and growing in Piqua.
We are also cautiously optimistic that 2011 will be much better for the local economy and the nation as a whole. Several local companies are currently evaluating facility expansions or new equipment investments, promising new products and additional employment.

Industry Products Company Receives "Challenging Spirit Award" from Honda
Industry Products Company (IPC) was recently honored with a "Challenging Spirits Award" from Honda of America. This award recognizes Honda suppliers that are able to take on additional product lines from those suppliers who are no longer able to deliver them in a timely manner. Industry Products was given this award in appreciation of their successful efforts to take over projects within very short time-frames thereby preventing interruptions in Honda's production flow. The company was able to do so even when the new product lines required major design changes. IPC team members worked together and met every Honda deadline. These opportunities also gave IPC the opportunity to hire a several dozen new employees and to purchase several new machines. According to Bill Murphy, Executive Director of Grow Piqua Now, "Industry Products is just the most recent example of the high-quality, nimble companies that make Piqua a great place to do business." |
