On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earth quake stuck the Island Haiti.
 
  Haiti is the first "free" Republic for people of African descent
 
in the "New World".
 
The earthquake killed an estimated 215,000 people and left homeless
 
an estimated 1,000,000 people.  For the first two months of the year Eastern Market
 
exhibitors took action. 
 
Heidi and Steve Adams of Sweet Nut House
 
( http://www.sweetnuthouse.com ) collected money to help in the Haitian recovery effort
 for Doctors Without Borders. They also gave a matching donation.
 
  Tom Greaves-painter- donated half of his sales to the cause
 
( http://www.tomgreavesartworks.com ). 
 
Myra Caesar-Tea & Co.- (http://www.tea-co.com ). 
 
Olivia Cook-Peacock Botanicals- (http://www.peacockbotanicals.com )
 
also collected and gave to rebuild Haiti.
 Ms. Cook is still collecting donations.
 
  Bernadette Mayo-BAMI Products-
 
( http://www.bamiproducts.net ) not only collected funds but matched all funds given
 
to aid in the relief effort.  The vibe on the outside in the snow, the wind and
 
the rain is always beautiful.
