SUMMER FUN
The arts and cultural community is still very active over the summer!  The temps may be hot, but you can find lots of cool things to do over the next few months.  Explore one of our nine museums.  Visit some of the local art galleries.  Enjoy a musical performance at one of several venues.  Attend a play or an art class.   No crowds, no hassles, just great fun.  Check out the calendar here!
SAVE THE DATE
Save this date - Saturday, October 30 - for the annual kick-off party for Celebrate the Arts Month.  It will be a fun-filled evening that will involve all the arts in a big celebration.  Theme this year is "Masquerade Madness" and it is at the Hilton Hotel.  Volunteers are needed to help plan the event and work that evening; please email us if you can help:  info@uaccollier.com.

CULTURE BUILDS FLORIDA
The United Arts Council has received a grant from the Community Foundation to fund some of the costs of a comprehensive new initiative called Culture Builds Collier!  Goals for this program are to:
1) help strengthen local arts organizations by working together more effectively;
2) enhance the role that the arts play in the local economy to ensure that the arts are a part of our economic recovery;
3) improve the efficiency of the United Arts Council in its role as the "umbrella" organization for the arts.
Culture Builds Collier! includes objectives and activities in two key areas - arts marketing and cultural tourism.  Stay tuned for details.
PARKINSON'S DANCE PROGRAM
The United Arts Council received a private foundation grant to work with the local Parkinson Association on a program called "Dance and Movement."  The program was developed by the world-renowned Mark Morris Dance Group in New York City for Parkinson's patients and is designed to improve flexibility and range of motion.  Weekly classes are taught by one of our  contract instructors who trained with New York City's  Mark Morris Group; musical accompaniment is provided by a local pianist.  Click here for more information.
