Help Make a Difference in 2010
Refugee Kids in Kenya2010 promises to be a year filled with fresh challenges as IAFR seeks to bring hope to the Refugee Highway. Our plans include:
  • Researching the lonely crossroads of the Refugee Highway in Malta.
  • Pioneering a vision of establishing sister church relationships with churches in refugee camps - starting with a church in Minnesota and a church in a refugee camp in Malawi.
  • Activating churches in the USA and EU to welcome and serve refugees in their communities.
  • Assisting the Refugee Highway Partnership in planning a May 2010 global consultation in Turkey.
  • Establishing an IAFR EU Regional Leader based in France.
  • Exploring strategies to help refugees gain meaningful employment in Kenya and Malawi.
Help make a difference in 2010!

We can't do anything without your prayers and financial support. We hope you will consider partnering with us as we join with God in what he is doing among the forcibly displaced people in our world.

The needs and challenges of the Refugee Highway are too big for anyone to confront on their own. But together we can make a difference.
Remembering Refugees This Christmas
Nativity ImageMany Christians will celebrate this Christmas in refugee camps in Africa and Asia, refugee detention centers in the EU, and on the streets and under the bridges of world class cities like Cairo, Istanbul, Athens and Rome.

They are in good company. Early in his life, Jesus himself was forced to flee with his parents to Egypt.

Let's remember the world's 42 million refugees this Christmas - and especially our brothers and sisters in Christ.

One way we can do that is by taking the time to include them in our prayers. Families can pray as they light their final advent candle. Churches can pray as they celebrate the departure of Jesus from his heavenly home to dwell among us here on earth. We encourage you to make this prayer your own this Christmas.

Father in heaven, we want to remember the millions of forcibly displaced people in our world this Christmas. They are your handiwork. You know their names and love them with a unrivaled intensity. You know first hand the vulnerability and profound sense of loss that is the experience of a refugee. May they know your presence and love this Christmas.

We pray especially for our brothers and sisters in Christ that are celebrating this day on the Refugee Highway. Let the reality of your advent renew their hope. Graciously breathe new strength and faith into their bodies and souls. Pour out your peace upon their minds and hearts. You hold their lives in your almighty hands. May they find rest and refuge in your presence.

We bring them to you now in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Flight to Egypt
Flight to Egypt

Christmas is celebrated as a season of peace and joy.

The historical event was a time that included great uncertainty and sudden forceful displacement.

"...an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him." So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt..."
Christmas TreeThank you for your part in making the IAFR a reality in the past 6 months! We're grateful for every word of encouragement, every prayer on our behalf and for the generosity of many without which we could not have made it.

We pray that your Christmas is filled with the presence of God as you celebrate the coming of Jesus to redeem and heal our broken world.
