MS/HS Parent Portal Now Open

Parents of students at Manchester Township High School and Middle School can now have 24/7 access to their children's attendance, grades and assignments through a new online Parent Portal.

PowerSchool Parent Portal is linked to the PowerSchool Student Information System database used by school district staff. The Parent Portal gives parents and students access to real-time information including attendance, grades, assignment descriptions, school bulletins, and even personal messages from the teacher. The portal helps everyone stay connected: students stay on top of assignments, parents are able to participate more fully in their student's progress, and teachers can use their grade book to share information with parents and students.

Parents/guardians can now activate their own parent account that can link to all of their students in grades 6-12. Letters containing login information and passwords were mailed to all parents in late April. Login instructions may also be found on the school and district websites and programs explaining the portal are now being broadcast on the MTHS-21 cable television channel.

"I realize it is sometimes difficult for parents to find time to monitor their child's progress because of the many commitments that occur throughout the day," said David Trethaway, Superintendent of Schools. "I also realize the importance of parental involvement in a student's education. This is the reason that our school district is continually exploring new ways to provide information for our parents. I hope that this program will be a benefit for our parents and provide more communication and information regarding your child's progress."

HS Parent Survey

DART is a community coalition aimed at reducing substance abuse in Ocean County. Their mission is to engage residents in the process of reducing substance abuse among youth in the County and over time the community as a whole.

The Coalition is collecting data on the pressing issues and needs of the County. From there, it will be able to identify the biggest concerns and form a strategy on addressing these particular issues.

We are asking our high school parents to please take this voluntary anonymous survey that will take just a few minutes to complete.

BOE Honors Bowling Champs

The Manchester Township High School Hawks Men's & Women's Bowling Teams were honored at the April Board of Education meeting for their accomplishments this year. Both teams took home numerous titles throughout the season, culminating in State Sectional titles for both teams.

Boys Bowling Team

The men's team, coached by Brian Varga, took 2nd Place for Group 2 Overall and achieved a record team high of 3363 at the Central Jersey Classic Tournament in addition to their sectional title.

 Girls Bowling Team

For the women's team, coached by Mike McCrae, this was their sixth consecutive South Jersey Sectional Title, fourth consecutive Group 2 State Title and second Tournament of Champions Title (2009 and 2012). In addition, Coach McCrae was named Bowling Coach of the Year by the Asbury Park Press for the second time.

MTHS Principal, Alex George, said "I can't stress how much these programs mean to our school and our community. They set an example to show how important it is to be a part of something and to work together as a team to achieve a goal."

David Trethaway, Superintendent of Schools, joked that honoring the bowlers has become an annual event at the April BOE meeting. "I'm kidding, but hopefully nobody takes their accomplishments for granted," he commented. "It is an outstanding feat and we are very proud."
