School Budget/Election Information

 

The Manchester Townshsip Board of Education approved a Tentative 2011-12 School Budget at a special meeting on March 3. [see related article] This budget will be submitted to the county superintendent for approval before being finalized and presented to the public at a public hearing in late March (date to be announced). 

 

The School Election is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, 2011 with polls in Manchester open from 2:30-9:00 p.m.  Voters will be asked to approve the 2011-12 Proposed School Budget and will vote for candidates for the Manchester Township Board of Education. See below for important dates and voting forms. 

 

VOTER REGISTRATION:
Visit www.clerk.co.ocean.nj.us/election/ for voter registration forms and additional voter information. The deadline to be able to vote in the school election is April 6.

 

VOTE BY MAIL:
You can now vote by mail - no need to go to the polls!
Just fill out the vote by mail application and mail to the County Clerk's office. You will receive an Official Ballot in the mail, which you must return before the election date. Applications for mail-in ballots for the school election must be received by April 20, unless you apply in person.

Mrs. White helps student at computerPhysics Teacher Attends Workshops, Students Benefit 
 

Students in Pat White's Physics classes at Manchester Township High School are benefitting from knowledge she gained at two National Science Foundation workshops that focused on simulation and programming tools for physics education.  White recently helped her students use free online software she learned about in the workshops to design a program that simulated bouncing a ball off walls, surrounding it by a box and even adding the effects of gravity.

 

White said that recent physics education research indicates that the traditional lecture-style, passive learning model is not the best way for students to learn and understand physics.  She said that students entering advanced college physics programs were found to be lacking in computer skills needed for programming the computer simulations used in real-world physics research.
