BOE Re-Organizes, Budget Goes to
Township for Review

The Manchester Township Board of Education held their reorganization meeting on April 28, 2010.  Re-elected Board Members Kenneth Pate and Jackie Bermudez, along with Lakehurst Representative Allison Werner, were sworn in and Mary Walter and Ken Pate were re-appointed as President and Vice President, respectively.

Superintendent of Schools, David Trethaway, spoke about the district's 2010-2011 Budget, which was voted down in the April school election.   "Of course we are disappointed at the loss, but we are not alone.  We have already lost $2.4 million in state funding and made $1.8 million in reductions to our budget," he said.  He explained that district officials will now meet with township officials, who will review the budget to determine if further cuts should be made. "We have always worked well with the township in the past, and hopefully that will continue.  We will do the best we can to maintain what we have."  [see complete BOE Highlights]
