DECEMBER 1st, 2011 World AIDS Day
|
|---|
This week, we join with millions worldwide to commemorate World AIDS Day on December 1st. World AIDS day, brings together people from around the world to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and demonstrate international solidarity in the face of the pandemic. The day is an opportunity for community partners to spread awareness about the status of the pandemic and encourage progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care.
World AIDS Day is also an opportunity for you to learn the facts about HIV and put your knowledge into action. If you understand how HIV is transmitted, how it can be prevented, and the reality of living with HIV today - you can use this knowledge to take care of your own health and the health of others, and ensure you treat everyone living with HIV fairly, and with respect and understanding.
Please consider showing your support for those of us living with HIV/AIDS in Boulder County by attending the World AIDS Day Concert in benefit of BCAP. The concert will feature the Resonance Women's Chorus, directed by Sue Coffee and the Denver Gay Men's Chorus, directed by Ben Riggs. It will be held in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 1421 Spruce Street. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased online, by calling BCAP at 303-444-6121, or at the door.
In solidarity,
Mauricio Shoup, (+)

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Boulder County AIDS Project - 26 Years of Making a Difference
|
|---|
BCAP first opened its doors in 1985 as a community response to the AIDS epidemic in Boulder. 26 years later, we have offices in Boulder and Longmont offering comprehensive medical case management services, HIV outreach and prevention programming, and two HIV-specific food banks. Despite the myth that there is a vaccine for HIV and that AIDS has been cured, the HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to impact Boulder, Broomfield, Gilpin and Clear Creek Counties.
Proudest accomplishment: BCAP is excited to announce our World AIDS Day concert on Thursday, December 1 at First United Methodist Church from 7 to 9 pm! This year's theme is Getting to Zero: Zero AIDS Related Deaths, Zero Discrimination, and Zero New Infections. The concert will feature the Denver Gay Men's Chorus and Resonance Women's Chorus. Tickets are available at www.bcap.org , calling 303-444-6121, or at the door. Ticket price is $15.00.
