A message from our Program Director
|
|---|
Dear Friends,
I am happy to introduce this week's eNewsletter. Today, Out Front Colorado Magazine released their "Power Issue." Featured in this issue were 45 people and organizations, which have been identified as some of the most influential in generating awareness and support for the causes that affect the lives of LGBTQ people in the state of Colorado. The full article can be found here.
I am honored that you have proposed my name for consideration to that list, and humbled that in the end, I was selected to be one of those featured.
I invite you all to share this award with me and become some of the most influential people that you can be. Check out what is happening in our community and get involved. Being out, open and visible is one of the best actions you can take to cultivate awareness, respect and well being for LGBTQ people. It is through your visibility, that young LGBTQ people - our future generations - will have access to a variety of positive role models in addition to those that are put forth in the media.
In solidarity,
Mauricio Shoup

Leave It On the Floor - October 13
|
|---|
Out Boulder and the CU-Boulder's Center for Multicultural Affairs bring you the Boulder Premiere of the film; Leave It On the Floor as one of the events to mark National Coming Out Week. The screening will be at the Nomad Theater at 7 p.m. This premiere is shaping up to be an event that you will definitely not want to miss. Keep your eyes open, and check our event calendar as well as Facebook and Twitter for the latest details.
Leave It On the Floor is the musically infused story of Brad, our hero, who through a chance encounter stumbles into a noisy raucous, chaotic event and meets the ragtag members of the struggling House of Eminence part of the Los Angeles Ball Room Scene.
Initially only looking for a place to sleep, and perhaps someone to sleep with, Brad ends up engaging with the colorful members of the house and their indomitable house mother, an aging ball-legend and fierce protector of her family.
Laughter, tears, sex sirens, and butch queens up in pumps ensue and remarkably, Brad ends up finding an extraordinary home and loving, caring family in this, the strangest of places.
For more information on the film and to watch the trailer go here!
Don't forget to keep your eyes out for the final details for this event.
