Ten Things to Love about Out Boulder

A note from our newest addition, Jen Spolnik: I joined Out Boulder as office manager about a month ago among the bustle of planning for Boulder Pridefest. I have volunteered with Out for the past three years in many capacities and have actively participated in anything I can over the years. But working here just reaffirms my love for this organization. For me the following are the highlights for what Out Boulder provides us all.

Rainbow Hearts

How I love Out Boulder, let me count the ways...

1) Community - Out Boulder bring us all together.

2) Enewsletter - I am always up on what's going on in Boulder County.

3) Boulder Pridefest - I am already looking forward to next year!

4) Aicila Lewis - Our fearless and fierce Executive Director.

5) Maurcio Shoup - Just love this guy, Out Boulder's Program Director. And who wouldn't?

6) b. mann - BOLD's Program Coordinator gives LGBT and allied youth a forum for expression.

7.) Pride House - A great safe place in a lovely location in downtown Boulder.

8.) Board - It's full of passionate community leaders that support Out Boulder and believe in our cause.

9.) Volunteer Opps - They are endless and fulfilling as a way to give back and contribute in various ways. YOU can sign up too to be a volunteer! And check out this week's newsletter for a few great volunteer options.

10.) Volunteers - Their dedication keep us going and gives us the support we need in all aspects of our organization and events.

Why do you love Out Boulder,  let us know?    Send us an email, admin@outboulder.org.

On Saturday, October 15, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., the University of Colorado will host Celebrating Queer Identities: Living Great, Being Terrific! This event will be part of National Coming Out Week.

What would queer life - lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and every other version of queer life - look like if we asked ourselves a new question? What would LGBTQ people see if we viewed our lives through the lens of the things that are wonderful instead of the things that are hard or painful? That is the question we will be exploring at Celebrating Queer Identities: Living Great, Being Terrific!

Stay tuned for details!

Walk Across America for Equality's Upcoming Boulder Stop: September 24

In mid-March, when Richard Noble announced he was walking across
America to generate support for a federal American Equality Bill, many LGBTs found it difficult to believe he'd actually go through with it. "It is the mission of my civil rights walk acrosNoble in Colorados America over the next 18 months to pass as many city resolutions to support finding federal sponsorship of the bill," Richard said at the time. He started with a Resolution from the city of West Hollywood and he got a certificate of recognition from California Sen. Mark Leno's office. He's been walking now for five months, and will be making a stop in Boulder this week!  On September 24th, there will be a community gathering to support Richard on his quest, including Congressman Jared Polis, Boulder Mayor Susan Osborne, and many more.  Stay tuned for details!

Richard will also be in need of places to stay while in Boulder, if you would like to show him some Colorado Hospitality, please email Mauricio at  mshoup@outboulder.org!
