This week we feature three blogs on different (but connected) topics from three Boulder County writers.
First, Dr. Glenda Russell has written a beautiful tribute about Dr. Manning Marable, an influential historian who died April 2nd. Dr. Marable was a fierce ally to the LGBTQA community. Click here to read Glenda Russell's blog...
Next, Out Boulder board member, Lester Wall, has written a reflection called, "Why this Jewish Straight Ally thinks the Traveling Exhibition, Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals, is Important." Click here to read Lester Wall's blog...
Finally, last April Out Boulder Co-Executive Director, Cathy Busha, was asked to speak at Front Range Community College for "Take Back the Night." She spoke of SB-1070, Earth Day, Fred Phelps, men's roles in ending violence and the imperative of building positive community. Click here to read Cathy Busha's speech...

Community Education on Bias-Motivated Crimes |
|---|
There will be a presentation in April on Bias-Motivated (Hate) Crimes that includes:
- Hear from the DA's office a short summary of what constitutes a bias-motivated crime.
- Identify 3-5 potential "expert witnesses" who would be trained and able to provide testimony in bias-motivated crimes about the identity group that is targeted.
- Identify a network of people able to come together, possibly 3 times a year, to provide resources to the prosecuting team in potential bias-motivated crimes.
We would also like to discuss what types of work is being done that we may be able to do together to address the underlying cultural issues that promote bias-motivated crimes.
If you are interested in learning more, please contact Aicila at alewis@outboulder.org.
