THIS Sunday, February 20th at 2:30pm

On Sunday, February 20: 2:30 pm screening of "Papers"  4:15pm Reception and Q&A

CU-Boulder  Humanities 150

JorgeVOICE (Voices of Immigrant Children for Education and Equality) and Out Boulder (www.outboulder.org) cordially invite you to a  FREE screening of Papers (www.papersthemovie.com) with Special Guests:  Director and Producer Anne Galisky and Rebecca Shine, as well as Jorge from the film!

Following the screening, Rep Jared Polis, Anne Galisky, Rebecca Shine, and Jorge from the film there will be a free reception, and we will hold a Q&A about the intersection of LGBT and Immigrants' Rights movements

Jorge is undocumented and queer. He is passionate and committed to bridge the immigrant rights movement and the LGBTQ movement in order for both movements to begin working and moving forward together. For him, both struggles are not paralleled but rather intersected and he is sight of such complex intersection. Jorge holds a Bachelor's in English from the California State University system. He wants to continue in his educational journey and obtain a Master's in Education and eventually obtain a PhD and become a professor.

Anne Galisky, the "Papers" Director is a co-founder of Graham Street Productions, which produces documentary films. Before becoming a filmmakers, Anne founded and operated Small World Builders, a building construction company, for fifteen years. She earned a Masters in History, with her research on the Japanese Internment included in the Internment Memorial at the Expo Center in Portland, Oregon.

Rebecca Shine, who along with El Grupo Juvenil, the "Papers" Youth Crew, produced "Papers," is a co-founder of Graham Street Productions. Her passion for literature and the art of story-telling drew her to documentary film production. Before producing "Papers," Rebecca provided consulting services to non-profits, schools and public agencies, focused on the areas of economic development, social services and youth leadership. She has mentored many young people, including a number of undocumented youth. Her passion for social and economic justice, matched by her love of story-telling inspired her to bring the stories of immigrant youth to light.

Bent Lens Cinema presents "Queer Realities"
February 25th and 26th

Friday, February 25th @ 7:30pm

FIT

Multi-talented writer, director, choreographer and composer, Rikki Beadle-Blair creates the perfect melting pot of students, music, and dance inside an East London high school where sexuality and gender identity are fluid, and dance and drama provide the stage for exploration. This "Glee" meets "Queer as Folk" world is set against the backdrop of a group of talented and creative young people, struggling to understand their own feelings while negotiating parents, bullies and social expectations. Hip hop dance numbers weave through the individual stories of several of the youth, who turn stereotypes upside down while forging their identities.

This is the best film you'll ever see about anti-queer bullying and how young people find creative ways to bridge differences and teach each other acceptance. Originally created for the stage as a project with London lgbt high school youth, the rhythms, clever dialogue and fabulous soundtrack will lift you to new understanding - it's wicked

Preceded By "Team Queen"
Director: Leah Meyerhoff (3:30 mins)
A burlesque gender bending music video - the new girl in school is thrown into a madhouse of high school hellcats where the cheerleaders are drag queens and the prom band is the all-(sort of)-girl post-punk explosion "Triple Creme." Featuring the best of NY burlesque - Murray Hill, Julie Atlas Muz, Tigger and Scotty the Blue Bunny...

Out Boulder Community Garden Plot in Your Town?

Out Boulder is thinking about getting a few community garden plots around Boulder County. The idea is that members of the LGBTQ and Allied Community would help take care of the garden. In exchange, volunteers could enjoy what is grown and bring the rest to the Out Boulder Pride House to share with the community :)  You don't have to have a green thumb to volunteer - just some time and interest in helping our community grow!

If you would like to volunteer some of your time to help take care of an Out Boulder Community Garden plot, please email Cathy (cbusha@outboulder.org) and let her know what town you live.  We need to have at least five people in a town willing to care for a community garden before we'll go forward in securing a plot.
