The Out Boulder Team

Join us for a show by Namoli Brennet - a poetic, genre-busting folk singer from Tucson, AZ!   Thursday, November 11 from 7 to 9pm
namoliPlease join Out Boulder and the Boulder Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship as we welcome nationally-touring trans artist, Namoli Brennet, to Boulder County for the first time! Thursday, November 11 from 7 to 9pm at the BVUUF (1241 Ceres Drive, Lafayette, CO).  Namoli and her music were recently featured in the film,"Out in the Silence." She has played at Pride Festivals all over the US. A $5 to $10 donation for the artist is requested - no one will be turned away.

When she first walks on the stage, transgender singer-songwriter Namoli Brennet may have a quiet and unassuming presence but her intense and haunting voice quickly fills the room with as much emotion as it can contain. Described by many as an inspiration, she has been touring all corners of the country since 2002, sharing her gift with a devoted fan base while putting over 250,000 miles on her trusty Volvo wagon.  She's played over a thousand shows and almost as many instruments citing guitar, piano, mandolin, harmonica, bass, drums and flute among her most well-honed.  Her albums have been described as breathtaking and incredible and are a well-crafted journey through achingly real and heartfelt experiences.  Her technique draws on a wide range of influences, everyone from Shawn Colvin and Jonatha Brooke to Patty Griffin and Joni Mitchell.

Please help support LGBTQ arts and social programs in Boulder County!

Join us for "Boulder's LGBT History -

On the 18th Anniversary of Amendment 2"

Wednesday, November 3rd @ 7pm

rainbow CO

I don't think the voters understand how painful this is -- to be told that you're inferior, a second-class citizen, said Glenda Russell in the NYT article, Nov '92

With the passage of Amendment 2 on November 3rd in 1992, Colorado became the first state to legalize discrimination against gays and lesbians at the ballot box, which was later overturned by the US Supreme Court. Please join Boulder's LGBT history buff, Dr. Glenda Russell, for a look at Boulder's LGBT history before Amendment 2 and since. How have things changed in the 18 years since Amendment 2? What do the results of the November 2nd, 2010 election mean for the LGBT community?

We will also have a large, graphic timeline of Boulder County's LGBT history at the event, from Stonewall to the present day. Free! RSVP to Cathy at cbusha@outboulder.org required. The November 3rd gathering at the Out Boulder Pride House (2132 14th St, Boulder) is limited to the first 20 people. If more than 20 people respond, we will schedule a second talk at a future date.  To view the Facebook event...

Out Boulder co-sponsors a Free Screening of

9500 Liberty - this Thursday

Thursday, November 4th 6:30 to 8pm at Boulder High Auditorium, followed by a panel featuring Joe Pelle, Hans Meyer (Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition) and Mekela Goehring (Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network).  Prince William County, Virginia becomes ground zero in America's explosive battle over immigration policy when elected officials adopt a law requiring police officers to question anyone they have "probable cause" to suspect is an undocumented immigrant. 9500 Liberty reveals the startling vulnerability of a local government, targeted by national anti-immigration networks using the Internet to frighten and intimidate lawmakers and citizens. Alarmed by a climate of fear and racial division, residents form a resistance using YouTube videos and virtual townhalls, setting up a real-life showdown in the seat of county government.

For more information on the movie...

Hosted by: City of Boulder Human Relations Commission, CIRC, Boulder County CAP, Out Boulder, El Centro Amistad, Boulder VOICE, the Immigrant Legal Center of Boulder County, El Comité and RMIAN
