THE GOOD NEWS
Michael Voris and Real Catholic TV have an amazing presentation on the Holy Shroud of Turin that centers on an intriguing question...how did the image of a crucified man get on the Shroud?
Answer...It was created by a power that our present day capabilities CANNOT even come close to duplicating! And just how much power are we talking about? 34,000-Billion Watts of VUV Radiation. This presentation by Real Catholic TV is a must see this Holy Week! |

GUEST COMMENTARY
Today I See Spring For Sure
~ by Lou Templeman
Today, I see spring for sure. It is on the way. I see it in the V of geese overhead. I see it in the flitting of finches, sparrows and titmice in my tulip poplar. They are finding some special food in the dull buds that will soon turn the tree into a bouquet. I see in the redbird who is foraging under the crepe myrtle I trimmed last week; and who is bravely ignoring the hunched shoulders and twitching tail of my black kitten who has spied him from across the yard.
Today, I can feel spring. I feel it in the lumbering lazy float of grey rain clouds that have just this morning given a short tease of relief from the long drought that has lasted since before Christmas. I feel it in the dancing branches of the neighborhood trees choreographed by the invisible, humble breeze that without the dance I may not have noticed. I feel it in the shine in the east behind the showers that promise a little sun on a partly cloudy day.
Today, the breath of spring resonates within my soul. I cannot explain it but I know the earth, the whole earth is breathing. I can feel it. I see it. I am part of it. It is all one. It is all a whole. And, I am not apart from it. Cleansing breaths. In and out. Deep breathing. Almost a humming. A humming, a vibration of life. The yard birds, the determined geese overhead, the tulip poplar, the crepe myrtle, the grey sluggish clouds, my foolish, curious, playful kitten. The roar of the trash truck and the two strong men who hauled away my crepe myrtle branches as I drank coffee on the front stoop where I sat in my work clothes wondering if the rain would stop so I could go to work.
Nothing was a piece by itself. For a strange wonderful moment - I could call it a Trinitarian moment just as a stretch to find a name for something I've never felt before - I knew the whole earth was enjoying and acknowledging the grace and goodness of God. As a fish swims in water, a bird find highways in the sky, and as the trees reach to bathe in the rain and the sunshine, so I and the trash men and the passing cars and my neighbor picking up his paper and my kitten were all finding our soul's nutrition in the one who so rarely calls attention to himself.
The glory was alive in my heart.
O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness; let the whole earth stand in awe of him. Psalm 96: 9.
Thine is the day, O God, thine also the night; thou hast established the moon and the sun. Thou hast fixed all the boundaries of the earth; thou hast made summer and winter. Psalm 74: 15, 16.
Today I can sense spring. I feel alive. I feel like I am part of something huge and new and ancient and ever becoming. And, I am so thankful I stepped outside to see it. To see and feel and sense the beauty of spring.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"When we speak about wisdom, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about virtue, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about justice, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about peace, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about truth and life and redemption, we are speaking of Christ. " ~St. Ambrose of Milan~ |

THE ART OF LIFE
PAINTER-Robert Duncan

www.robertduncanstudios.com
Robert Duncan was born in Utah and began painting at age eleven. He spent summers as a boy on his grandparents' ranch in Wyoming where his grandmother gave him his first set of oil paints. It was there that he grew to love the country, the open spaces, and the rural lifestyle. Robert has painted professionally for about 25 years. I want my grandchildren to be able to walk through a field and hear a meadowlark call. We don't all have to live on a farm, but to pass by and see the cows grazing or just to know that there are wild places being kept wild makes our lives better. Ina way, my paintings are a call to think about the things that have touched our lives and hope that we might all be willing to do our part to save these things for future generations."

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Custodia Terra Sancta Franciscan Missionaries serving the Holy Land
The Franciscans of the Holy Land have lovingly looked after and preserved the sanctuaries and restored them.
In particular, the restoration work has taken on great importance. Recording all the original elements of the sanctuaries has led to an archaeological exploration which - by redrawing the environment that witnessed and characterized the action of Biblical figures - creates a sensation of the present and enthrals with the emotion of a direct experience.
The archaeological activity of the Franciscans in the Holy Land started at the end of the 19th century when, thanks also to the stimulus of several archaeological explorations started in Palestine in that period, the need for more scientific knowledge of the sanctuaries and of the holy placed becomes complementary to that of looking after them and venerating them.
The Custody's excavations have obviously given preference to places linked with the New Testament, but those concerning places of the Old Testament are not rare.
Over the past century, this activity of the Custody has created an enormous heritage of material finds and enriched knowledge of the Holy Land.

THE LEGEND OF THE PASSION FLOWER
The Passion Flower has become a symbol of Christianity visually depicting the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Historically it has been associated with Jesuit priests in South America during the early 17th century. The legend of the Passion Flower originated with a Mexican Augustinian Friar, Emmanuel de Villegas, who reported it in Europe in the year 1610.
- The Spiraled Tendrils - The Lash of Christ's Scourging
- The Central Flower Column - The Pillar of the Scourging
- The 72 Radial Filaments - The Crown of Thorns
- The Top 3 Stigma - The 3 Nails
- The Lower 5 Anthers - The 5 Wounds
- The Leaves - The Head of the Centurian's Spear
- The Red Stains - Christ's Blood Drops
- The Round Fruit - The World Christ Came to Save
The flower is said to be clearly designed by the Creator to represent Christ's passion. It opens and closes both revealing and hiding it's mystery. The edible fruit (some varieties) is sweet and the plant has medicinal qualities. The Star of Bethlehem (half-opened flower), the 30 pieces of silver (round spots underneath the leaves), the vinegar sponge (the style), the Apostles (10 petals i.e. Twelve less Judas who betrayed Christ and Peter who denied Him) and the burial spices (fragrance) can also be found.
