THE GOOD NEWS
ANGELS
This week we salute the "supreme" steward of all that God has created...the ANGELS.
God Our Creator has given to us amazing and diverse creatures to share our earthly life with. But, did you ever stop to consider the "heavenly" creatures which He also created, who walk beside us and among us as well as participating in the heavenly orchestration of God's eternal business?
It seems that almost everyone believes in Angels. A Gallup poll revealed that 75% of Americans believed in angels and more than half (55%) of all adults, including one in five of those who say they are not religious, believe that they have been protected by a guardian angel during their life, according to a survey by Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion. In an amazing move, Guideposts magazine found that so many people had angelic experiences that in 1995, they created a separate bi-monthly magazine called Angels on Earth.
On some online message boards about angels, many people discuss the role that they say angels play in their lives. This is evidence that so many sense a divine presence and it causes a powerful reaction that they must share. Television has made angels part of our pop culture with shows like Touched by an Angel and re-runs of
It's A Wonderful Life.
Whatever your thoughts about angels may be, this week's Catholic Steward of Creation is sure to be chock-full of angelic facts and fancies. We encourage you to visit
for great articles on ANGELS .

We have all heard tales about angelic visitations and some that have certainly alluded to animals. Saint John Bosco, founder of the Salesian Society had a mysterious dog he named "Grigio" who was perhaps a visitor from heaven. From Susi's Book ANIMALS IN HEAVEN? NATURE CALLS!
"Explore the National Marine Sanctuaries Book Series"
OCEAN PUBLISHING is proud to offer the upcoming four-book series,
Explore the National Marine Sanctuaries with Jean-Michel Cousteau.
Copies of the first book in the series will ship beginning mid-November.
From the Preface: The National Marine Sanctuary sites were designated in part because they were imperiled. Created more than 100 years after the national park system, these underwater treasures have been more difficult to explore and we have worked hard to learn their true value. By the time we did, we also discovered they were already at risk. Their very existence speaks to a reality that we now understand. It is clear they protect and promote the abundance and diversity of marine life essential to a healthy ocean. I am gratified that our leaders have seen the wisdom of placing a priority on protecting them now and for the future. So it is ironic that this first book in the series on America's Underwater Treasures is going to press at a perilous time. The largest oil spill in the history of the United States is ongoing, with oil still flowing from the Deepwater Horizon explosion into the Gulf of Mexico with inevitable, but unknown, impact on the Sanctuaries located there. A massive cleanup effort is in force with no end in sight.
These books show you what is at stake.

STEWARD ACTIVITY
Pray the ANGELUS
The Angel of the Lord declared to Mary: And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the
hour of our death. Amen.
Behold the handmaid of the Lord: Be it done unto me according to Thy word.
Hail Mary . . .
And the Word was made Flesh: And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary . . .
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord.
Amen.

GARDENING
ANGELIC ORGANICS: Know your food, know your farmer
________________________________
The Real Dirt on Farmer John the MOVIE
THE REAL DIRT ON FARMER JOHN follows Farmer John's astonishing journey from farm boy to counter-culture rebel to the son who almost lost the family farm to a beacon of today's booming organic farming movement and founder of one of the nation's largest Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farms. The result is a tale that ebbs and flows with the fortunes of the soil and revealingly mirrors the changing American times.
