THE GOOD NEWS
Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center
 | | A Horse Rescue at Black Beauty |
The Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption Center is now open at Black Beauty Ranch in Murchison, Texas. The horses there come from cases of abuse or neglect and are rehabilitated through training. They are then adopted out to loving new homes.
The facility is an innovative facility that rescues and rehabilitates abused and neglected horses, and ultimately helps place them with adopters who can provide them with safe, permanent, loving homes.
Using natural horsemanship methods and proven techniques for humane training, the center creates a customized formula for the success for each horse, with the goal of preparing the animal for a loving home. This focus on the needs of the individual animal creates better outcomes for horses who might otherwise have been abandoned, allowed to languish in a lonely paddock, or sold for slaughter.
Meet some of the horses up for ADOPTION.
Follow the Doris Day Horse Ranch on Facebook.
We invite you to read a Message from Wayne Pacelle, President and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States as he speaks about their new Doris Day Horse Rescue and Adoption facility.
And don't forget....any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated!! Consider DONATING today. Another GREAT move by the Humane Society of the United States!!!!

STEWARD JOE
St. Athanasius
~by Joseph Kaiser
Our resident theologian, Joe Kaiser is such a delight! A more positive devout disciple of Jesus you'll never meet. So, it stands to reason that a saint who was devoted to the Divinity of Jesus Christ would catch Joe's spiritual eye. This month's column is a must read for all Catholics, as it journeys back to the earliest years of the Church and focuses on a mighty champion of the faith.

GOOD BOOKS
September's Recommended Read
~by Michele Gregoire
A cat that can foretell impending death in seriously ill patients? Michele Gregoire, our resident book reviewer has an engaging look at just such a cat. Because the book is written by the medical doctor that witnessed to the cat's extraordinary capabilities of holding vigil at the bedside of patients who were dying, makes the credibility of the observation authentic, lending to the miraculous workings of something beyond this world. Animals doing extraordinary things-is always a sign of "God in the moment."

THE ART OF LIFE
"Come Follow Me"
by artist, Liz Lemon Swindle
It is my witness that hardship is the cement of discipleship and that only in the midst of our failing health, our wayward children, and tough economic times can we will truly understand the peace that comes from heeding His words, "Come Follow Me."
Liz Lemon Swindle
Liz Lemon Swindle began her painting career in first grade. Her first exhibitions were on the refrigerator, encouraged by her father. In the early 1980s she tutored under renowned wildlife artist, Nancy Glazier. In 1992, Liz began painting a subject matter she had long desired to approach: her faith. Her paintings are now held in corporate and private collections around the world and have been published in countless magazines and books. Liz and her husband Jon have five children and thirteen grandchildren.
