In the midst of those wonders we discover the voice of the Creator, transmitted by heaven and earth, day and night: a language "without words whose sound is heard," capable of crossing all frontiers.

THE GOOD NEWS

The Wilderness Society

wilderness.org

The leading American organization that works to preserve and protect our country's public lands is The Wilderness Society. Founded in 1935, the organization works strategically and collaboratively with land managers, decision makers, and other interested citizens to find common-ground solutions that lead to better protection, stewardship and restoration of our public lands, preserving our rich natural legacy for current and future generations.

Man rescues pet rabbit from River Liffey 03-07-2011

Incredibly, there are over 635 million acres of land owned by the American public and managed by the government. There are now 110 million acres permanently protected in 44 states. It is beautiful creation that offers clean air, abundant wildlife, and places of immense natural resources.

As citizen owners of such beauty, how can we not support the good stewardship of these fragile and richly vibrant havens?

Won't you support

The Wilderness Society today!

FATHER RON'S COLUMN

Summer Daze

~by Father Ron Camarda

These hazy, hot days of summer can cause us to slow down, if just for a few moments and take note of creation about us, as it too praises God under the noon day sun. Poetic Father Ron returns with a contemplation in such a moment.

Summer rightly has us all loving the crisp, refreshing tastes of nature's bounty....especially the citrus that finds its way into our breakfast routine or our middle of the day snack. But, how much do you know about the orange you just peeled? Susi can tell you, it's "in the family!"

Nature's Gentle Ones

~by Frank Gromling

The Florida Manatee is one of the creatures "listed" on our nation's "Endangered Species List," a list that is currently being undermined by Washington. This incredibly unique creature, so very docile and so dependent on our good stewardship is the subject of

Frank's concern this week.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Faith and Sharing-

Camp St. Johns at Marywood

Sister Maureen and Father Ron will be animating the next Faith and Sharing retreat from August 8th to the 13th (Monday noon until Saturday until noon). This is a week-long retreat in which we form community with those with mental and/or physical disabilities. Bishop Snyder welcomed this retreat over 25 years ago. This is the retreat in which all of the Summer Camps like "I am Special" "Camp Care" and "Camp Promise" originated. Father Jean Vanier and Father John Newton are known for their spirituality in these retreats. Father Ron and Sister Maureen have been animated for over 12 years. Call the office of disabilities for more details and tell Rebecca that Father Ron sent you. Bishop Felipe Estevez will join us for Mass one day. The swimming pool is grand. You haven't lived until you get embraced by a person with the gift of Down Syndrome!

The beautiful people from Harbor House join us. No experience required, only an open heart. I especially in need of someone to help lift a good friend of mine who is sharp as a tack, but lacks the ability use his arms and legs. Let me know if you are interested.
