The mission statement from their web site states... The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild places worldwide. We do so through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together these activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony. WCS is committed to this mission because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth.
They have been doing this for 115 years since being founded in 1895 with tremendous success, being supported by people like you and I. their commitment extends to a remarkable 25% of the world's biodiversity, addressing four big issues in wildlife and wild places: natural resource exploitation, climate change, connection between wildlife health and human health and sustainable developments of human livelihoods.
The WCS operates on four continents, North America, Latin America, Asia and Africa, as well as safeguarding 11 priority seascapes of our oceans. You can view their various operations with their interactive map.
WCS conservationists often find themselves on the frontlines of natural and human-fueled disasters. They survey wildlife populations and ecological conditions before and after emergencies. WCS research has helped influence national government policies, guided immediate relief efforts, and helped communities rebuild and wildlife rebound under new governments in new national parks.

This week we have PLANET IN FOCUS, which has been producing Canada's international environmental film and video festival. Over the past 11 years they have been championing the environmental cinema explosion by offering a forum for environmental art, science, industry and activism to come together.
Currently, they are accepting
2011 film and video presentations.
Their Summer Environmental Video Production Program for YOUTH is taking reservations for their August camp.
