THE GOOD NEWS
The National Humane Education Society
Fostering a sentiment of kindness since 1948

www.nhes.org
The National Humane Education Society (NHES), has worked over the decades in powerful ways, by bringing to our national populous awareness to the compassionate and humane care that we as stewards are charged with as we care for God's creatures.
Their website is a virtual classroom on humane education in our schools and our communities; animal welfare for domestic pets as well as farm animals; and on dealing with animal cruelty in all its forms.
Founded by Anna Briggs who just this year, passed away at the age of 101, this organization has done more for "fostering a sentiment of kindness" than any other of its kind. They are led by what they call their
12 Guiding Principles, which compared to our philosophy here at CSC, are absolute "beacons" of creation stewardship!
The NHES has given thousands of second chances to animals, offered unconditional and transforming love to the abused and neglected animals in their care, has a national adoption center and a national animal sanctuary.
Their ultimate goal is to make a positive global difference in the care and treatment of animals. This quote from St. Francis of Assisi is on their website: "Not to hurt our humble brethren is our first duty to them, but to stop there is not enough. We have a higher mission-to be of service to them whenever they require it."
We would encourage teachers, educators, community leaders, mothers and fathers to visit this extensive educational and informative website and bring an old, but new understanding of the compassion and humaneness that this world so needs right now.
And please, honor the memory of a great Christian woman, Anna Briggs, by donating to her memory and the organization that has been a cathedral of humane action and love to all of creation!
