United Poultry Concerns is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the compassionate and respectful treatment of chickens, turkeys, ducks and other domestic fowl. We here at CSC were able to meet members of this organization at the last Taking Action For Animals Conference in Washington D.C. and we were struck by their dedication and virtual library of statistics on domestic fowl.
They focus on chickens and other domestic fowl because they are one of the most abused warm blooded animals in the world. A part from their tireless work to advocate, launching national and international "watch-dog" campaigns and public education, they operate a Poultry Paradise in Machipongo, Virginia, which is open to the public.
They hold that the treatment of these birds in the areas of food production, science, education, entertainment, and humane companionship situations has a significant effect upon human, animal, and environmental welfare.
United Poultry Concerns is uniquely situated in stewardship of God's creatures, seeking to make the public aware of the ways in which poultry are used, and they also promote the benefits of a vegan diet and lifestyle.
We are all called to create all creatures with humaneness. Great work!
