THE GOOD NEWS
CANINE ASSISTANTS
www.canineassistants.org
It was seeing his daughter suffering from multiple sclerosis as a teenager and watching her struggle, living in a "wheelchair bound" world, that an Atlanta Eye Physician was moved to start an organization in Georgia that would train and place service dogs to help people in wheel chairs. Unfortunately, three weeks after the first planning meeting, he was killed by a drunk driver while he walked on the sidewalk in a park.
His daughter Jennifer Arnold, along with her mother, took the plan forward and in 1991 founded the CANINE ASSISTANTS.
Today, they have placed over 1,000 dogs to assist those who have mobility issues, epilepsy or diabetic seizures. This year, between 75 to 100 dogs will be placed, these dogs coming from the Canine Assistants breeding program and dogs from rescue centers and shelters.
CANINE ASSISTANTS offer educational programs for both children and adults about the roles of service dogs and can be contacted by CLICKING HERE for a reservation.
Jennifer was featured on a PBS SPECIAL, Through a Dog's Eyes, which just so happens to be the name of her incredibly inspirational book.
When the world looks for a "hero," it has found one in Jennifer Arnold.
Truly an inspired and authentic woman who celebrates the dog in a way that makes Heaven sing. PLEASE SUPPORT this outstanding organization.
