THE GOOD NEWS

DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE

www.defenders.org

One of the United States leading non-profit organizations for 64 years, committed to the protection of our national imperiled wildlife is the Defenders of Wildlife. They are champions of the Endangered Species Act! They are well led by an outstanding board that moves forward in a very positive way, empowered with science-based, results oriented conservation efforts.

There are numerous issues on Capitol Hill regarding the immediate need for protective status of species, the least not being the status of American wolves.  The anti-wolf sentiment has moved from the U.S. House to the Senate as Utah's Orrin Hatch introduced a bill to remove federal protections for all gray wolves in the U.S. - a move that would certainly doom the few remaining Mexican gray wolves struggling to survive in Arizona and New Mexico and set a dangerous precedent for removing Endangered Species Act protections for some of our most vulnerable wildlife.

Defenders of Wildlife are committed to advocating for the wolf, working with ranchers in a proactive way, educating the public in a solid way about the issues and in advancing sound science and economics in arguing their cause.

They are also ardently working on the battle grounds for many other endangered species, from the polar bear to the sea turtle as well as environmental issues that are affecting fragile habitats.

Listed as part of Reader's Digest 100 Best Awards, Worth Magazines 100 Best Charities, and a recipient of the Natural Resources Council of America's award for Most Effective Action on Federal Policy, they are an outstanding organization for all stewards who love the creatures of the wild to support!!

Be a part and do your part! The animals depend on you.
