North Shore Animal League America

The world's largest NO-KILL animal rescue and adoption organization for dogs and cats, saving almost 1-million animals to date, is the North Shore Animal League America. For 67 years this outstanding group has been a leader in the no-kill movement, an innovator in animal welfare to create a more sustainable world for all companion animals and has built a national network of shelters and rescue partners. Their shelter partners have pure bred and mutt-igree® dogs and thousands of loving cats seeking a forever home.
They are a proud sponsor of Adopt-A-Pet.com which allows 8,000 shelters and rescue organizations to post their available animals for adoption. Their Tour for
Life ® is a mobile adoption program which brings high visibility to shelters and rescue centers across the nation. The League also partnered with Purina for the first of its kind, Friskies Cat Habitat which provides home-style living for cats.
Each year, the League conducts a global event called Pet Adoptathon where over 2,000 shelters in the USA and around the globe participate to see that 20,000 pets are adopted in a single weekend. This years event it going to be bigger and better and will run the entire month of May. Kick-off weekend is April 30, 2011!
With an estimated 3,000,000-4,000,000 dogs and cats euthanized in shelters across the country, the North Shore Animal League's NO-KILL standard is more important than ever. Consider marking your calendar for the Pet Adoptathon and bringing home your new family member!
