The Good News
THE NATURAL RESOURCES DEFENSE COUNCIL
www.nrdc.org
.
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is one of the most influential and effective environmental groups in the country. They are a non-profit, non-partisan international environmental advocacy group, with a staff of more than 300 scientists, attorneys and other specialists as well as 1.3 million members. The NRDC has been recognized as one of America's 100 best charities, meeting the highest standards of accountability and use of donor funds.
The NRDC was founded in 1970 and continues to lobby Congress and other public officials for public policy that promotes conservation of both the natural and built environment. The NRDC works against pollution and habitat destruction and promotes actions to mitigate global warming and increase the use of renewable energy.
Frances Beinecke has been the president of the NRDC since 2006, and claims that her interest in the environment came from visiting the Tetons in Wyoming as a child. She believes in communal work towards protecting the environment by forming partnerships with others that promote stewardship of the planet.
The NRDC raises our awareness to what is right and what is wrong in the environmental arena today. It is in our best interest to follow the issues and be part of the solution as concerned stewards of creation.
