The Wildlife Land Trust is the ONLY national land trust where recreational and commercial hunting and trapping is permanently prohibited on all sanctuaries under their protection. Land owners who have property that provides valuable wildlife habitat know that such lands are rapidly disappearing to development and other exploitative uses. Refusing to sell to those who would destroy the land is an admirable, but temporary, defense against unwanted changes to the land and disruption or destruction to the wildlife it harbors. Permanent protection of both land and wildlife is possible, though, and that is what the Wildlife Land Trust has enabled landowners to achieve over the past 15 years.
The WLT offers landowners options to conserve and preserve their land with a protection process that is detailed in a free download.
Familiar woods are being devastated by heavy machinery. Farms and fields are being converted to housing developments and shopping centers. Forests and wetlands continue to disappear at an alarming rate. And all of the above are being reduced by continued encroachments that are associated with these expansions.
The WLT believes that as stewards of the land it is their responsibility to help landowners save as much of their land for habitat for wildlife as possible, so that wildlife may have a safe and nurturing place in which to live.
Won't you help to preserve creation? We highly recommend this wonderful organization!

Susi's Commentary
ENTRUSTMENT & APPRECIATION
Susi writes on a famous American naturalist who visited her "neck of the woods" in the 18th Century, blazing a new trail in creation appreciation.
Susi Pittman, author and founder of CatholicStewardsofCreation.com is available to speak to your school, club or organization. *
She loves sharing her passion and love for the creatures of this world with her audience! Susi is about saying "yes" to God when it would be easier to say no! She is about teaching others how to see the created world through the eyes of a dedicated steward, as God's "stand-in." She is about believing that you can do anything you want to do and enjoy getting there, heartbreak and all! If it is the challenge of change, Susi helps people rise to the occasion with all the vigor and enthusiasm that serving God as caretakers demands in this wonderful life.
The Fall season brings all of us out to the farmers markets across the country in search of the fresh seasonal Fall foods that bring comfort to our family hearths. Supporting the local farming community in your area is vital for their continued survival. Years ago, imported foods were a rare occurrence and we all ate what was more seasonal, thus supporting the local and regional farming industries.
Today, our grocery stores are full of imported foods throughout the year to keep American kitchens full of out of season vegetables and fruits grown outside of this country. And we are sacrificing our American home farms and their seasonal harvests just to have the convenience of having vegetables or fruits when "we" want them!
Catholic Stewards of Creation recommends LOCAL HARVEST!
Local Harvest is America's #1 organic and local food website. They maintain a definitive and reliable "living" public nationwide directory of small farms, farmers markets, and other local food sources. Their search engine helps people find products from family farms, local sources of sustainably grown food, and encourages them to establish direct contact with small farms in their local area. Their online store helps small farms develop markets for some of their products beyond their local area.
So eat well, eat nutritious and eat local this season.
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMER!

NASA's Near Earth Object Program
This past month, Earth had two asteroids pass within the "moon's" distance of good ole terra firma. These asteroids were discovered three days before they were scheduled to pass Earth by. Makes you think, doesn't it!
The purpose of the Near-Earth Object Program is to coordinate NASA-sponsored efforts to detect, track and characterize potentially hazardous asteroids and comets that could approach the Earth. The NEO Program will focus on the goal of locating at least 90 percent of the estimated 1,000 asteroids and comets that approach the Earth and are larger than 1 kilometer (about 2/3-mile) in diameter, by the end of the next decade. In addition to managing the detection and cataloging of Near-Earth objects, the NEO Program office will be responsible for facilitating communications between the astronomical community and the public should any potentially hazardous objects be discovered.
