The Ocean Futures Society was founded by Jean-Michel Cousteau. He is the son of Jacques Cousteau, who was the famed, explorer, ecologist, filmmaker, scientist and researcher who studied the oceans. Most of us can remember him from the National Geographic specials we watched on television in the 1960's through the 1980's.
Jean Michel Cousteau has produced 70 films. He is currently working on a documentary of the 2010 Gulf Oil Spill and is releasing a series of four books published by Ocean Publishing of Flagler Beach, Florida, titled, Explore the National Marine Sanctuaries.
The mission of Ocean Futures Society is to explore our global ocean, inspiring and educating people throughout the world to act responsibly for its protection, documenting the critical connection between humanity and nature, and celebrating the ocean's vital importance to the survival of all life on our planet.
We encourage you to be a "Voice for the Oceans" and join this incredibly important organization which is most certainly on the front lines of marine conservation and advocacy, led by a truly remarkable man.

The Autumn Season brings with it some of the most delicious foods of the year! The harvest! No matter where you live across the United States, now is the time to get out over the weekend, in the cooler morning air and visit your favorite farmers market for the newly arriving fall veggies and fruits.
This month starts the falling of the colorful leaves from the trees, as the nights began to get cooler and dryer. Some of the best autumn foods arriving at the market will be the many root vegetables which include carrots and potatoes in their abundant diversities and onions and garlic. The above-ground harvest of squash and pumpkins will bring the colors of the fall. The seasonal fruits of apples, pears and cranberries round out the harvest.
So, get out and enjoy the harvest, the falling of the leaves, the colors that make this time of year so special in creation and on our tables!
In the night sky resides the constellation Pegasus. It is a large pattern of stars marked by a great square - four bright stars that form the body of the winged horse. The constellation is home to several galaxies and a bright globular cluster, globular clusters are home to some of the oldest stars and objects in the universe. The brightest star in the constellation Pegasus is called Markab, which means "the saddle." It's at the southwestern corner of the Great Square.

FYI
The method of measuring changes in aspartic acid to determine the age in Bowhead whales has an accuracy range of about 16 percent, which means that a Bowhead whale caught in Alaska in the 1990's could have been from 177 to 245 years old.
BUD'S BARKS!
I hear-tell that a whale swallowed a man named Jonah and then spit him
back out. I see that as a true allegory to being "down in the mouth" and
"coming out all right."
