The Good News

Retirement Home for Horses at Mill Creek Farms
An Equine Sanctuary

millcreekfarm.org

In 1984, Mary and Peter Gregory created a haven...safe and tranquil...for old, abused and abandoned horses. Mill Creek Farmin Alachua, Florida situated halfway between Gainesville and Lake City in north central Florida, offers hundreds of acres of serene, tree-studded rolling pastures allowing horses to roam freely, where they are never worked or ridden again. Enclosed by rustic curving wooden fences, horses at Mill Creek farm live with care and attention...and die...in peace and dignity.

Many of the horses are available for sponsorship at this time. The cost is just $40 monthly which helps defray the total cost of maintaining a horse at Mill Creek Farm. You can visit the farm and bring a bag of carrots to meet the horses. The horses appreciate the attention and love the treat of a carrot and you just might find a horse that you would like to sponsor.

As a non-profit organization, The Retirement Home for Horses depends solely on private contributions.
We at Catholic Stewards of Creation have personally known Peter and Mary over 17 years and can vouch for their life-long sacrifice of money, time and care for these beautiful noble animals. God has certainly given them a mission of mercy that has borne much fruit!!
We encourage you to take a Saturday drive out to the farm and support the blessed work that two wonderful people, Peter and Mary and generous volunteers have given to these special horses.

Artfully Speaking

I Do Believe

Perhaps the most beautiful and magical of all the sea creatures, has to be the Seahorse. Isn't the mind of God "some kind of wonderful" to create not only the "land" horse, but also the Seahorse. Rick takes us into a journey of his love for this small, delicate creature and how he brings that love to life on canvas.

APPLES - HORSES LOVE 'EM & PEOPLE LOVE 'EM

We are keeping in tune with our horse theme this week as we recognize that apples are loved by both human and horse. We went on the web and found a great little site that has some of the most DELICIOUS apple recipes you could enjoy this Fall. Maybe even share some with an equine friend!

PEGASUS the Flying Horse

In the night sky resides the constellation Pegasus. It is a large pattern of stars marked by a great square - four bright stars that form the body of the winged horse. The constellation is home to several galaxies and a bright globular cluster, globular clusters are home to some of the oldest stars and objects in the universe. The brightest star in the constellation Pegasus is called Markab, which means "the saddle." It's at the southwestern corner of the Great Square.

TIP OF THE WEEK

FYI

BUD'S BARKS!

Buddy

When Susi scolds me, I hang my head in acknowledgement of my wrong doing, but I don't buy into that guilt "thing." I just jump up and lick her face and get on with life.
