Congratulations to Father Ron Camarda on the 20th Anniversary of his priesthood, May 19th!

The Good News

www.environment.sa.gov.au/coasts/ads/

Australians are known throughout the world to be some of the most generous and kind human beings in their relationship with the animals. They are committed to healthy living, sustainability and humane treatment of domestic and wild animals. It is literally in the conscience of the country. A terrific example of their love affair with creation can be found at the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary, an initiative of the South Australian State Government to work with the community and industry to create and manage a sanctuary for the dolphins of the Port Adelaide River and Barker Inlet - and, at the same time, create a better environment for everyone who uses the area. AWESOME! Lead by example is what I say...and the countrymen of Australia are primo in animal awareness and humane interaction with God's creatures.

If traveling to Australia, consider visiting the Adelaide Dolphin Sanctuary and taking the kayak tour with Adventure Kayaking SA.

Stargazing

The Herschel

The largest astronomical telescope ever sent into space is The Herschel launched in May 2009 by the European Space Agency and sent out to its position almost a million miles from earth. This location allows for observations of unprecedented detail. The Herschel's main mirror is 1 1/2X bigger than America's Hubble Telescope. Already The Herschel is making scientific waves as its data is challenging our previous understanding of the cosmos by showing that galaxies have been evolving over cosmic time much faster than previously thought. Today the first scientific results from Herschel are being revealed and fantastic new information is changing astronomy history.

The Promise

All who live around the Gulf of Mexico are holding their breath this week as the huge concrete cap gets lowered into the waters to stint the flow of crude oil from the ocean floor a mile down. It seems like an impossible task with no guarantees and the logistics will take what seems like endless time. What can you do? Read The Promise and become proactive!

Thanks to Beverly Siegel for forwarding this truly cute inspiration.

IF I DIDN'T HAVE A DOG OR CAT...

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

cat and dog could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

I would have money, and no guilt to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grandkids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave it ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.2 cats

I would not talk 'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'. 'Yummy yummy for the tummy'...

My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L,, W-A-L-K,, T-R-E-A-T,, O-U-T,, G-O,, R-I-D-E, C-O-O-K-I-E.

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I would not look strangely at people who think having ONE dog/cat ties them down too much.kiki

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading 'mud' season.

I would not have to answer the question 'Why do you have so many animals?' from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.

How EMPTY my life would be!!!

BUD'S BARKS!

Buddy

We live in frugal times and Susi is doing her share to cut back so that I continue to receive my expected, nutritious and delicious and "less frugally priced" dog food. She has turned the thermostat on the A/C up, installed ceiling fans, grows her own vegetables and is recycling and updating her fashion look....but old rabies tags for ear rings?
