Angels Gate: Hospice for Animals www.angelsgate.org
The mission of love that surrounds the journey of one extraordinary
woman has grown into the first, ever, of its kind, animal hospice and
rehabilitation center, Angel's Gate. Susan Marino is the Founder and
Executive Director of the center, a woman with a vision to provide a
home for special needs creatures, great and small, domestic and
wildlife. The name of the organization denotes the true beauty of the
life given to animals that are terminal, physically challenged, abused
or abandoned. The picturesque facility is located on 100 acres of
farmland in Delhi, New York, where Susan and her staff care for more
than 400 animals coming in all genus; dogs, cats, parrots, ponies,
ducks, swan, pigeons, geese, chickens and rabbits. Recently, Angel's
Gate was the winner of Rachel Ray's Mutt Madness-Rachel's
search to find the most deserving pet cause in the country.

Father Ron shares two poems with us, written years back, but two he
finds very poignant for today as he encourages us into loving
stewardship of life, death and heaven. Written in Father's trademark
spirit of "love-joy-peace," he will once again touch your heart!

Susi's CommentaryIt was Capitol Days in Tallahassee for the Florida Catholic Conference
last week, and Susi journeyed with delegates from across the state to
meet with legislators on key bills and issues that Florida Catholics
felt strongly about. It was a two day event for delegates and was
attended by all the Bishops and the Archbishop of Florida, who shared
with the delegates and legislators in a Legislators Luncheon and
con-celebrated the 35th Annual Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More. |
Many areas of our national wilderness are
National Parks and many of those parks have oddities of nature that
confound their natural surroundings. One such is Grand Teton National
Park in Wyoming where you can actually have one foot in the Atlantic
Ocean and one foot in the Pacific Ocean. Whaaaaat? This is true
and it is located deep in the Grand Teton wilderness. It is called Parting of the Waters Natural Landmark,
where North Two Ocean Creek flows down from a plateau, slams into the
Continental Divide in the form of the summit ridge of Two Ocean Pass and
then splits into two: the aptly named Atlantic Creek and Pacific Creek. ___________________________________________________
Take some time this year to visit a
National Park near you and be sure to ask the Ranger for oddities that
might exist in the Park. Each Park has some odd or unique natural wonder
that makes it what it is, a national treasure, owned by you, the
American citizen. Click here to find a park near
you!

Saturn at it's Best
This week and the week after will be the best views of Saturn all year.
Two hours after sunset, look to the Eastern sky and Saturn will be the
brightest object there. The 75,000 mile wide ringed-planet will be at
its closest to the Earth for 2010, which is 791 million miles away. For
best viewing with a telescope, amateur astronomers know to plan to focus
in on the planet around midnight, when less blurring occurs from the
Earth's atmosphere.

Soon after Pope John XXIII's coronation, his family came to the
Apostolic Palace for a visit. When he entered the room dressed in his
splendid pontifical white robes, his family dropped to their knees and
bowed their heads, to which he exclaimed: "Forget all that! What are you
afraid of? It's only me!"
