Laudate Dominum Hermitage Monastery

It
is said and it is truth, that nothing happens by chance, that with God there
are no coincidences. An example of this came by way of a wonderful steward who
follows our web site, Marie Paulhamus. She shared with us a marvelous animal
sanctuary that exists in the mountains of Virginia at a Hermitage. The devoted
Monk who founded the Hermitage created a place amid quiet mountains to which
the cats and dogs and other discarded domestic creatures of this world could
find their "forever earthly home." Living at the Hermitage is living the hidden
life. All is done for the glory of God and all income and material things come
by way of donations. There is need to build more pet facilities, donated
veterinarian services, volunteers to help with the animals and of course
importantly, FOOD and donations for food.
This
is such a miraculous apostolate! Won't you please help! And please, click here to enjoy the
inspiring article written by a spiritual supporter of the Hermitage, Marie
Paulhamus.

Father
Ron returned from his mission to Honduras with incredibly beautiful photography
of the men, women and children that he met. His column this week is a purely
visual one, bringing us into the "eyes" of the Hondurans, allowing us a glimpse
of Christ who says: "For I was hungry and
you gave me to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger
and you took me in." Matthew 25:35

Susi's CommentarySpiritual Intimacy and Our Pets
Our
spirituality can have a wonderful effect on the pets in our lives. It is
perhaps the least thought about but the most important aspect of connecting two
creatures in a universal intimacy. It leads to a multi-dimensional relationship
of signals, gestures and sounds, all complemented by our peaceful persona.
Some
would be authorities would have us believe that achieving such intimacy is
first of all ridiculous and secondly, represents our need to transmit human
characteristics upon animals, thus making the relationship dysfunctional. |

Apophis Arrives in 2029
The asteroid Apophis, named for the Egyptian God the Destroyer,
the demon serpent of darkness, will come very close to the earth in 2029. As a
Catholic, I find that the name alone is a little unsettling. It was originally
discovered in 2004 and caused a stir when scientists thought that a direct
impact was probable. Since then, their prognostications have changed. On April
13, 2029, it seems that this 1,100 to 1,500-foot object will actually pass between
the earth and our orbiting communication satellites. Closer than our orbiting
satellites ? You bet. READ MORE...

| BUD'S BARKS!
Running through tall
grass and rolling about in it gives purpose to life. I think humans who act so
logically provide a nice contrast to the real world.
