Celebrity Guest Columnist
For this week's CELEBRITY GUEST COLUMNIST, we welcome Frank Gromling,
publisher, conservationist and author extraordinaire! You will not meet
anyone more committed to the conservation of our oceans than Frank. He
is reknown in the marine world for writing the "bible" of the
endangered Right Whale titled "Frank's Whales." As a publisher, he is
making waves with two smashing book productions by two incredible
experts in their field; "Climate of Uncertainty," by William Stewart,
and a four book deal entitled "Explore the National Marine
Sanctuaries," by Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of French explorer,
environmentalist and film maker, Jacques Cousteau.
Frank is a sought-after keynote speaker for organizations and
corporate conferences and he offers workshops and seminars on
publishing, the art of being a business executive, conservationist,
adventurer and educator. READ FRANK'S COLUMN... |
The Good News Last week, we shared the good news of the Baghdad Pups Program, a
great program whereby service men and women who befriend a feral dog or cat in
Iraq or Afghanistan are given the opportunity to bring back home their
war pets, fulfilling the "No Buddy" left behind promise.
This week, we continue the Armed
Forces pet theme by introducing you to the MilitaryPetsFOSTER Project (for
all pet types), an initiative of NetPets, originally established by Steve
Albin and Operation Noble Foster, which coordinates cat foster homes for
military pets, both organizations providing foster homes for active military
deployed to war zones.
These two outstanding groups
epitomize the concerned stewardship of the human-animal bond that supports the
statement, "Animals aren't our whole lives, but they make our lives whole."
The unique love that animals share with their human companions only goes to
point to our Creator's hand as we recount in Genesis 1: 30-31: And so it
was. God saw that all he had made was very good. |

Father Ron has left the building! He has flown the friendly skies to
on a one week medical mission to Honduras. Father's Column this week speaks to us of
what should be a # 1 priority during Lent, making Lent a mission of Love! He
also shares a column from Mark Woods, a metro columnist for the Florida Times
Union, in which Mark experiences Ash Wednesday in Haiti. Father Ron asks us to
unite in our Lenten ashes and to serve one another. God speed
Father! READ MORE... |

Stargazing
What is the oldest astronomical research institutions in the world?
The Vatican Observatory!
It's very beginnings can be traced to Pope Gregory XIII, who created
a committee to study the scientific data and implications involved in
the reform of the calendar which occurred in 1582. The original
Observatory existed next to the Dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
But, as the population grew and city night lights lit the sky, the
Observatory was moved to a new and what is it's current location, at
Castle Gandolfo, the location of the Papl Summer Residence in the Alban
Hills.
The Vatican Observatory
also operates The Vatican Observatory Research Group that operates the
Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) located at the Mount
Graham International Observatory (MGIO) in southeastern Arizona.
The library at Castle Gandolfo contains rare antique books penned by
Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Kepler, Brahe, Clavius, and Secchi.

| QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Obedience unites us so closely to God that in a way transforms us
into Him, so that we have no other will but His. If obedience is lacking; even
prayer cannot be pleasing to God."
~St. John Chrysostom

| BUD'S BARKS!
My best dog-friend, Gator, showed me a new napkin today...after eating
our dinner, we ran up and down the front of the sofa and wiped the
sides of our mouths clean. Cool!

| FYI Marine and aquatic environments store up
to half of the emissions from the entire global transport sector and 3
to 7 percent of all human-made emissions.
The ocean plays an important role in
managing our global climate by regulating the amount of carbon in the
environment. The ocean stores and cycles 93 percent of the world's
carbon dioxide emissions. Source: SeaWeb.org / United Nations Environmental Program
