CSC color 100Weekly E-Alert from catholic Stewards of Creation

The Good News

We are initiating a new column on our web site that will bring to you the "good news" from around the globe on organizations and people who are involved in making a "good" difference in today's world.

We all look for something in today's news stories that will lift us up out of the quagmire of the geo-political nightmare of rhetoric that continues to fill our headlines. Wouldn't it be nice to have a headline so good, so wonderful that it causes you to pause and really acknowledge the good in the world??

Hold onto your hats folks, because here it is:

SPCA INTERNATIONAL PRESENTS

OPERATION BAGHDAD PUPS:

No Buddy gets left behind.

www.spcai.org/baghdad-pups

Charlie and Sgt. WilsonThis week our first spotlight is on the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals International who created the Operation Baghdad Pups program in order to reunite service men and women with their animal companions from Iraq or Afghanistan. Many feral dogs and cats roam the areas of war and many of them have been befriended by an American soldier. A deep and abiding friendship occurs and the animal companion becomes a part of the life of the soldier. So much so, that separation seems unbearable. That is where the SPCA International steps in. Started in 2007, this incredible program continues to handle the logistics of getting pets from the war zone reunited with the service men and women they were attached to, thereby fulfilling the motto, No Buddy gets left behind.

What an awesome humane and humanitarian service this provides. Click on SPCA link and read the inspirational stories that speak volumes to the human-animal connection that goes beyond what we have been taught to understand. Be sure to also check out the touching YouTube video.

Animals aren't our whole life, but they can make our lives whole!

Susi's Commentary

All is Present to God at All  Times

universeTo truly understand the title of this column is to understand that all that
God has created, be it in
the past, in
the present or to come in the future,
ALL of it is pr
esent to the Creator at
this very moment.

God, Yahweh, Abba, Father, exists in the present moment and is present to all that He has created now. He lives outside of time and is eternally cognizant of the dynamics of everything in the created universe.

Stargazing

Interactive Hubble Space Telescope Site

hubblePerhaps the greatest tool of modern day Astronomy lies in the Hubble Space Telescope. Circling the Earth every 97 minutes, this extreme tool built 43-feet long back in 1990, sends back pictures from the deep cosmos with great clarity. Acquaint yourself with it's inner workings and how it views the universe at the National Geographic Site, Star Journey.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

St. Thomas Aquinas

"Obedience unites us so closely to God that in a way transforms us into Him, so that we have no other will but His. If obedience is lacking; even prayer cannot be pleasing to God."

~St. Thomas Aquinas

BUD'S BARKS!

Buddy

At our home, things are rather casual. All of our non-dog friends know to "dress down" when visiting and they know which chair "not" to sit in.

FYI

shroud of turin

The Shroud of Turin, the burial cloth of Jesus will be once again brought out in exposition April 10 - May 23, 2010, in Turin, Italy. Pope Benedict XVI is scheduled to visit it in early May.
