Celebrity Guest Columnist
This week, our CELEBRITY GUEST COLUMNIST is a hero of animals, a courageous
woman who for 27 years put the welfare of animals ahead of everything in her
life except her God. We are offering a tribute to a dear friend and animal
advocate whose life has been dedicated to the animals she served; Margaret
Smith, a Methodist, Australian native and retired Executive Director of the Lake
City/Columbia County Humane Society. Read more... |

Susi's Commentary An Un-Groundhog Message
For all practical purposes, our secular society in the United States
and Canada celebrate February 2nd as Groundhog Day. It's a day when a
creature of Creation is honored with being a prognosticator of the
winter season, causing people to clamor around a hole in a tree stump,

Join the Florida Catholic Conference for Catholic Days at the
Florida Capitol
Each spring, during the Regular Session of the Florida Legislature,
Catholics from throughout the state gather in Tallahassee to attend a
legislative briefing and meet with state lawmakers. A luncheon is held
on day two for Catholic Days participants, Florida's bishops and
legislators. We encourage our Florida stewards to attend.

Did You Know?
Feb 2 is Groundhog Day in the U.S. and Canada. If the ground hog fails to
see its shadow, winter is almost over. If it sees its shadow, there will be six
more weeks of cold. There are at least 17 locales around the U.S, that bring out

Stargazing
Look to the Southeast in the early morning. There are two planets low on the southeastern horizon this week.
First there is Venus always bright and shiny, that you can catch a glimpse of @
6:30AM EST. And then the king of the planets, Jupiter, reappears in the low
southeastern sky as if to inspect his kingdom on Earth. Remember planets DON'T
twinkle, only stars do! The last-quarter Moon is this Friday.
