Greetings!
Have you ever wanted to really
make a difference when you presented an issue of concern to an elected official?
I mean really???
This week's CELEBRITY GUEST COLUMNIST, Stephanie D. Vance, co-founder
of Advocacy Associates, has more than 15 years of experience in Washington, DC,
both as a lobbyist and a congressional aide, holding positions such as
legislative assistant, legislative director and staff director for various
members of Congress.
I met Stephanie this past summer in Washington D.C. where I listened to her
present one of the most humorous looks at dealing with our elected officials I
have ever heard. Her presentation was filled with terrific pointers and
training, but it was the stories that brought it all home and made contact with
me! I also purchased her book CITIZENS IN ACTION, A Guideline to Influencing Government.
She is the author of
Government by the
People: How to Communicate with Congress
(AdVanced Consulting, 1999) and How to Get a Job on Capitol
Hill (fabjob.com, 2001). As
the self-appointed "Advocacy Guru", her work is based on a deep and abiding
belief that government is effective only when citizens are actively and
responsibly engaged. She states: "Contrary to popular belief, government isn't
broken: people just need to know how to work the system and beat the odds."
Through Advocacy Associates and the online Advocacy Classroom, the Advocacy
Associates team is seeking to deliver this message far and
wide.
Stephanie is a member of:
- Women in Government
Relations
- Public Affairs
Council
- American Society of
Association Executives Government Relations Section Council
- National Speakers
Association
I am
absolutely thrilled to have Stephanie Vance as our CELEBRITY GUEST COLUMNINST and
even more certain you are going to love reading her GREAT article!
