NEMWI Welcomes New Policy Analyst
|
NEMWI welcomes Policy Analyst Melissa Lindsjo to the team. As a part-time contract employee of NEMWI, Mrs. Lindsjo will be covering issues related to urban renewal and Great Lake river mouths. Melissa has a bachelor's degree in geography with a focus in GIS from Wittenberg University. She recently graduated from The Ohio State University with a master's degree in city and regional planning from the Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture and in Public Policy and Management from the John Glenn School of Public Affairs. Before heading to graduate school Mrs. Lindsjo was an AmeriCorps VISTA and VISTA Leader where she worked with families living in poverty in the state of Ohio to overcome systemic barriers. While studying at The Ohio State University, Mrs. Lindsjo was a research assistant at the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity, where she worked with census data to produce and analyze Communities of Opportunities GIS maps for cities across the nation to improve their understanding of the challenges and opportunities in their neighborhood and region. She currently is the Program Director of WINNERS Lacrosse (The Washington Inner City Lacrosse Foundation), a 501c3 nonprofit organization that uses lacrosse as a vehicle to teach life skills to children.

NEMWI Welcomes Summer Intern
|
NEMWI welcomes summer intern David Morris to the team. Mr. Morris will be volunteering part-time with NEMWI to develop a web-based tool for presenting NEMWI project information. Mr. Morris is working toward a bachelor's degree in philosophy and economics from Kalamazoo College. He is on the school's soccer team, a member of the Pre-Law Society, and a co-founder of the Logic Society. His previous work experience includes research positions at two law firms: Kawel P.L.L.C. and Silverman & Morris, P.L.L.C. Mr. Morris is from metro-Detroit.
