New St. Lawrence Seaway Caucus Launched
| NEMW Coalition Co-Chair Steve LaTourette (R-OH) and NEMW Coalition Member Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), also Members of the House Great Lakes Task Force, have launched a bipartisan Great Lakes-Seaway Congressional Caucus. This new House caucus is designed to bring Members and staff together--with their Canadian counterparts--to help improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway System, with attention also to its economic and environmental impact. The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Seaway, with its interconnecting locks, has enabled ocean-going vessels to travel from the Atlantic Ocean and into the Great Lakes for over 50 years, acutely affecting industry, trade, and environment for this region of eight NEMW states. Reps. LaTourette and Kaptur are currently calling for additional Members to join the newly established caucus.
