"Shark Fest 2011"

"Are You Man Enough Challenge 5"

At Cape Harbour

June 24 - 26

Shark Fest 2011 is a family oriented, shark themed, festival & boat show. The "Are You Man Enough Shark Challenge 5" is a high stakes, big game, two day shark fishing tournament!  Mark your calendar for June 24th - 26th at Cape Harbour, Cape Coral's most prestigious yachting community.

Festival and Boat Show on Saturday & Sunday, June 25th & 26th from 10 am to 5 pm will be filled with unique crafters and vendors.  There will be boats on display from local dealers.  New this year is the "Kidzone", an area filled with interactive games, rides and sharky shows for kids and kids at heart.  A rock wall, bounce house and 20 foot slide will be just some of the fun.  As well as a coloring contest where every entry is a winner.

The line will form early for the "Kids Fishing Derby" on Sunday, June 26th, 10 am at the Marina at Cape Harbour.  The first 50 to sign up receive a free fishing pole, bait and a shot at a specially designed Shark Fest Kids Derby Trophy!  All the kids will line up dockside at Rumrunners.  The age limit is 12 and under.

The 5th annual "Are You Man Enough Shark Challenge" will send a field of boats out from the Marina at Cape Harbour early Saturday for day one of the competition.

  • Teams will fish for 12 hours catching shark and sending the video of the battles back to be shown, as it happens, on the SharkTron center stage at Shark Fest!
  • Teams build points by catching the big ones and must return to Rumrunners by 9:30 pm.
  • On Saturday night the Shark Fest party at Long Boards will be going strong! Crowds will cheer as the teams they have watched do battle with the big ones return to see how they placed.
  • When the music stops at 10 pm the top 5 teams will be announced.  The top 5 will then need to refuel, reset and regroup because first thing Sunday morning they have to be ready for the Shotgun Start in the Sudden Death Final Competition.
  • On day two it is all about speed.  The first team to score 16 points by conquering the beasts will stop the competition and take the top prize.

Sunday, June 26th, the "Are You Man Enough Shark Challenge 5" will conclude with an awards banquet held at the Pavilion at Cape Harbour.  Live music, dancing, charity auction, gourmet dinner and award presentation will be held from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Per Captain Jack, "What makes shark tournaments exciting are the sharks!  People want to see the sharks! Seeing the shark action as it happens lets the crowd at Shark Fest be part of the fight.  They get to watch the most exciting part of the battle - Where the fishermen try to catch the shark as the sharks try to chomp the fishermen!  All the thrill without the kill! That is what makes us unique."  Go to www.AreYouManEnoughSharkChallenge.com.

Harbour Master, Frank Muto said "Cape Harbour is looking forward to hosting the Shark Fest event this year."  "We know there are guys and girls who are tough enough to take on the challenge and light up the SharkTron!"

Captain Jack Donlon, of Capt Jack Productions says, "I am excited to be working with Cape Harbour this year.  I've lived in Cape Coral for more than a decade and have always wondered why there aren't more Big Game Fishing Competitions based here in the Cape.  Cape Harbour is a world class destination location.  Exciting fishing competitions with family oriented festivals are an underutilized, positive, exciting resource that can draw tourism and are yet another perk of living in paradise for our local residents!"
