Cape Harbour invites the public to attend and take part in two very special events this month.

The first event is the annual 9/11 "A Day of Remembrance" ceremony honoring the fallen heroes of the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D. C.  It will be held Saturday, September 11th beginning at 8:30 am at Rumrunners restaurant in Cape Harbour.

Everyone is invited to share in a morning of remembering all whose lives were lost from this tragedy - those in the towers at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, passengers and crew members on the planes, New York Port Authority and New York City fire and police rescue workers, as well as those rescuers and others who survived the horror of that day.

Honored guests and speakers include former New York City EMS members, New York City police and fire crews along with local police, fire, military and airline crew members.

Also participating in the ceremony will be Cape Coral Police and Fire Department members, Fort Myers Police, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Lee County EMS, U. S. Coast Guard, American Airlines Kiwis, Harp and Thistle Pipes & Drums of Southwest Florida, members of the U.S. military as well as retired U.S. military officers, Civil Air Patrol Cadets, and the Kiwanis Club of Cape Coral.

The event is being organized by The American Airlines Kiwi Club, Suncoast Chapter.  Those with questions or memorabilia to share should call Sharee McClellan Thieleman, retired American Airlines crew member, at 239-822-8035.

Cape Harbour is also playing host to GROW AFRICA'S "Run for Water" 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 25th.  This charity event raises money to support GROW AFRICA'S project to build wells to supply clean water and to provide vaccines and food to the poorest of villagers in the African bush.

The evening event begins with registration at 6 pm for a race start at 7 pm WAY FM will broadcast the race live at Cape Harbour.  Holding the charity event in the evening allows local business partners an opportunity to network and the community to get to know their neighbors.  An awards and social networking get together after the race at Rumrunners restaurant in Cape Harbour.

Early registration fees are $17 per person for all ages for those signing up prior to September 10th.   Fees will be $20 for adults and $17 for those under 18 who sign up between September 11th - 24th, and $25 per person for all ages on the evening of the race.  The first 200 to register will get a free t-shirt.  Race packets will be available September 17th - 21st at The Run Shoppe, 3512 Del Prado Blvd.  Race applications may be mailed or dropped off at The Run Shoppe.
