NEW YEAR'S EVE AND 2010 EVENTS AT CAPE HARBOUR

Cape Harbour will host its 4th annual New Year's party on Thursday, December 31st featuring a gala magical midnight fireworks display and ball drop from high above the Promenade overlooking The Marina.

Everyone is welcome to join us for this fabulous event that is free and open to the public.  This year we are asking that you please bring non-perishable food or personal items to help support the needs of our community.

Ring in the New Year and help count down the minutes to the midnight hour when the ball, covered in shimmering, sparkling lights, is dropped against a spectacle of dazzling fireworks.  The 170-foot ball drop from atop the Marina South condominium complex has become a popular tradition here and is one of the most anticipated celebrations in the city.

Will Stout, President of Realmark Development, said, "Cape Harbour invites everyone to join in the merriment as we say goodbye to 2009 and celebrate 2010!"

Revelers may want to come early to relax and enjoy Cape Harbour's fine restaurants.  Enjoy waterfront dining at the award winning Rumrunners with open dinner seating from 5pm to 10pm. Reservations are recommended. (239) 542-0200

Pignoli, located on The Marina, will feature a special New Year's Eve menu offered from 9pm to 1am. Reserve a table for the entire evening.  Reservations are required.  Music will be by Vinny "Sax with Soul".

(239) 541-0800

Great food, drinks and party favors will also be the fare at The Joint, with live music by the "Geek Skwad" starting at 8pm. Reservations are not required.  (239) 542-0123

The unique shops, boutiques, galleries and boat dealers will be open for your browsing and holiday shopping.  Banana Bay Tour Company will make its final voyage of the year, a two hour cruise beginning one hour before sunset.  (239) 728-8687

There is no end to Cape Harbour's list of upcoming events that welcome the New Year!

The first annual "Paint the Cape" week-long artist competition and art exhibition will be held at Cape Harbour beginning January 3rd.  Artist registration will be followed by several days of artists working in various styles and media in designated areas of the Cape.  An awards ceremony and preview reception, catered by Rumrunners restaurant, will be held in the Pavilion at The Marina at Cape Harbour on January 8th from 5pm to 8pm.  Tickets are required.  A free wine tasting hosted by Wine Styles will be held on January 9th.  Also that day, a "Quick Draw" paint out will take place.  Artwork will remain on display and for sale at the Pavilion throughout the weekend.  The event is being held in conjunction with Cape Coral's downtown Festival of the Arts which will take place on January 9th & 10th.  For more information, go to www.paintthecape.com.

It's time to set your new year's resolutions.  Plan now to participate in the City of Cape Coral's 19th Annual Tour De Cape Weekend Event held at Cape Harbour.  Enjoy the sights, sound and beauty of Cape Coral without peering through a car window.

Runners and walkers are invited to test their "Cape-abilities" on Saturday, January 16th in a sanctioned 5K Run/Walk.  Your admission covers a continental breakfast and our first 1,000 participants will receive a goody bag with a t-shirt.

On Sunday, January 17th, the event transitions into one of the largest bike rides of its kind in the State of Florida.  Over 600 riders of all skills have participated in past events.  Rides are on lightly traveled roads, in primarily residential areas, providing safe, marked routes.  Experienced and casual Bike Riders can take to the streets at their own pace in a 15, 30, 60 or 100-mile course that winds through scenic Cape Coral known for over 400 miles of canals and waterways.  The event is designed to promote safe, healthy, enjoyable and environmentally sound recreational activities for the whole family.  Your entry includes a goody bag with a t-shirt for the first 1,000 participants, a continental breakfast, on-route rest stations with snacks and beverages, SAG vehicles and route maps.

Also, Sunday, January 17th has also been designated "Family Fun Sunday".  Bring your family and join us for a 7 mile Bike Ride which begins at 10am.  The incredibly low fee of $10 per participant includes a t-shirt, hog dog, chips & beverage.  The fee is less than the cost of the t-shirt!  The weather is usually great; it's not a race, but a leisurely pace. If one of the family members decides to turn back, that's OK.  Be sure to have a helmet for everyone participating and check those tires the night before.  Can't wait to see you out there, year after year!

Pre-registration fee for the 5K run is $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the event, Saturday, January 16th.  The Sunday, January 17th, Bike Ride fee is $35 pre-registration by January 5th (with lunch), $30 pre-registration (no lunch) and $45 registration (no lunch) the day of the event.  Checks should be made payable to the City of Cape Coral.
