Survey Results
This month we are featuring results from questions asked in our recent surveys. In the survey we asked general questions about your knowledge of ICF's, your interest in completing an ICF project and what else you might want us to discuss in our e-newsletter. A couple of questions that were asked of us are as follows:
Are ICFs good for use in rocky terrain?
ICFs prove to be exceptional for rocky terrains due to their simple use with frost proof shallow footings. Frost proof shallow footings require minimal depth below slab level and allow for a continuous barrier with the ICF wall. It is also easy to change/adjust elevation heights of footings and ICF walls, as needed, due to rocky terrains.
Are ICFs good for use in multi-story applications?
ICFs may be used for multi-story applications, just as any other building material. In residential uses ICFs are commonly used in basements, as well as multiple upper levels. ICFs may also be used in commercial applications for such facilities as 4-5 story hotels or apartment buildings, big-box stores and municipal buildings, among others.
ICFs can be easily used for 1-1/2 stories.

This house was completed with ICF on all three levels: walk-out basement, main floor and second floor.
Generally, ICFs are used for full basements and main floor houses.

In this case ICFs were used for a basement, main floor and second floor as an addition on to an old stone house.
The above projects were all completed in and around the Manhattan, KS area.
