Easy Care Houseplants for Winter
Spider Plants, Wandering Jew, Crown of Thorns, and any Cacti or Succulent requires very little care over the winter months and repay you with color and the ability to clean and freshen the air!
Village Garden maintains a great supply of the above plants and dozens more to bide your gardening itch until the soil warms!
To care for your houseplants, do not repot during the Winter since plants go into a semi-dormant state and very little root growth occurs. Because the plants are semi-dorman, cut back on your watering and fertilizing regimes. |

Buyers Beware Gardening Catalogs Have Arrived!
Gardening catalogs often create a love-hate relationship within us Gardeners. The reason is that these catalogs often introduce plants that are so new, they aren't readily available (as there is a controlled release to maintain high prices the first few years). The other downside is that many plants have not actually been tested in your Hardiness Zone, even though it is recommended for your zone.
Village Gardens routinely gets a lot of plants that are "firsts" for our area, such as the "Blue Chip" Dwarf Butterfly Bush. So, before you order expensive plants (at ridiculously small sizes) from the catalogs, call us about availability - we could save you a fortune! |
