What are Recruiters Saying!
jobs
Here are some early results from the State of Recruiting survey:

1.
50% of recruiters are seeing signs that the economy is picking up as indicated by more job requisitions, revenue growth, new product introduction, or fewer layoffs. (I haven't figured out what industries are growing yet).

2. Most companies expect a 9% increase in size by the end of the year

3. On average recruiters are spending 3 hours a day on sourcing and 5 minutes per resume. It is taking about 34 days to fill most positions right now - C-level and Executive are still the hardest.

4. 69% of recruiters say they are using LinkedIn as a recruiting tool, although 54% have accounts (that includes both corporate and outside recruiters -

The 7 Great Affirmations for the Unemployed

The following is our suggestion of how to use our 7 Great Affirmations to overcome job loss. We use the term God to mean the higher power of your understanding. These seven affirmations are the ones we and thousands of others have used to overcome unemployment and the negative emotions surrounding it.

1. Change Your Focus Give praise. Take your mind off your life's challenges and shift your focus toward good thoughts and attaining a new job.

Affirmation: I love you God and welcome you into my heart. Thank you for blessing me with a new job.
Tip: For many of your affirmations, affirm as though you have already been blessed with what you are asking for.

2. Put Yourself in a State of Gratitude
Take a moment and reflect on all the good things in your life and give thanks. Change your thinking from lack to thanks.

Affirmation: Thank you God, you give me power, comfort and strength while I find a new job.
Tip: Affirmations without taking action are just wishes. Take steps forward every day to find a new job and give thanks for everything during the day. There is nothing too small to give thanks for. For example, thank God for the beautiful day, a smile, a kind word, not to mention your health, family, etc.

3. Connect with Your Higher Power -- From Whom all Blessings Flow
Feel God's presence and know that God is within you right now, and that you are connected with God.

Affirmation: God, you are within me right now and you are helping me through my job search and helping me find the perfect job for me.
Tip: When using affirmations, don't beg. Instead, talk as though you are talking with your best friend. Talk and affirm positively, and know that you are loved.

4. It's Okay to Ask to Be Blessed with a New Job
God wants the very best for you . . . "whatever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive".

Affirmation: I am being led on the right path for me today for finding a new job, leaving all the details to God...I am blessed.
Tip: Some people believe for some reason they don't deserve blessings -- throw this idea out once and for all! You are a good person. You are loved. You deserve to be blessed, so ask to be blessed in prayer, believe you'll be blessed, and you will receive blessings!

5. Be on the Lookout for "Messengers" and Blessings
Be alert to messengers and events that have been sent your way to help you receive the blessings you desire, which includes helping you through the entire process of your re-employment.

Affirmation: God, because I see you everywhere, I easily recognize it when you are reaching out to bless me. I take continuous action and leave no stone unturned.
Tip: Set a goal. Have a clear picture of the job you want. Put your re-employment goals in writing. There are studies that report that those who put their goals in writing achieve dramatically better results than those who don't. So write down your re-employment affirmations in a journal along with your re-employment goals, and then take ACTION!

6. Bless and Love Others
"Love your neighbor as you would love yourself". When you are out of a job it's easy to feel very alone and isolated in your negative situation. Again, it's crucial that you maintain a positive mental attitude, and an easy way to do this is to say short, loving affirmations, blessing others.

Affirmation: I love and bless my family and friends. I love and bless all those who are in need of love, comfort and strength.
Tip: Decide to live in the now. Don't fret about the past, don't worry about the future. Don't go through your re-employment alone. Connect with family, friends, people you've worked with in the past, community services and your spiritual circle.

7. Use Your Talents
Whatever you put into the universe will come back to you ten-fold. You have special gifts. Reflect on these gifts and how they can help others. Be open to a completely different career; maybe a move to a new location. With every adversity there is the seed of an equal or greater benefit.

Affirmation: God, work through me now and help me do your good works. The more I help others, and do your good work, the more blessings I attract into my life.
Tip: While looking for a new job, stay active. Volunteer. Help others. It's the right thing to do and your volunteer work may very well connect you to a person or event that will help you become re-employed.

Here is hoping the each of you have a great week and remember if there is anything we can do to assist you as you seek new opportunities please never be afraid to ask!  We care and know that you will have some wins real soon!

WHERE ARE THOSE JOBS IN 2009?

Are you struggling to find employment in these tough economic times? Consider joining a stronger industry and applying your current skills to a growing field. Job.com's in-house survey found the following leading fields to be the most thriving in today's economy:

Health Care and Nursing

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) expects for open opportunities in health care over the next eight years to grow twice as rapidly as those in all other industries in the economy combined. Currently, seven of the top twenty-fastest-growing careers are in the health care industry, according to the BLS, and the consistent demand for medical professionals and nursing staff mean continued job security over the coming decades. As the Baby-Boomer generation ages, concerns over health care and medical treatment are growing rapidly, and require a work force to keep up. While health care has always been a steady field, 369,000 jobs were added in the past twelve months, according to the United States Department of Labor, and over 50,000 new health care jobs are set to be created this year alone. From nurses, lab assistants, medical technicians to physical therapists and home aides, there are plenty of promising career opportunities for any jobseekers aspiring in the medical field.

Information Technology and Services

With the continuing rise and advancement of technology across all industries, the BLS predicts Information Technology to grow by more than 20% over the next year. As the development of new technology continues to rise, IT positions are also expected to grow at nearly double the rate of all other jobs this decade. We are all part of the digital revolution, and all businesses have become reliant upon technology. A wide array of staff are required to maintain and advance our technologies, from positions in network systems and data communications, wireless, cable, telecommunications, and software design and development. Computer and technology employees are always needed, and might work in any parent industry, and our dependence on the services they provide ensures lasting job security.

Education

With a rising percentage of people out of work, another rising percentage are opting for new professions in growing fields, showing interest in higher degrees, and seeking certification and additional training in their industry. In November, 2008, the Department of Labor had added 9,800 jobs in education, and predicted more to follow, as education encompasses such a wide range of divisions, from conventional public, private, and secondary schools and universities to on-the-job training. In 2009, roughly 38,000 jobs are set to be created in the field of education. Aside from educational leaders needed in schools and colleges, businesses across the nation rely on people to train on a variety of professional working environments, such as the growing medical, technological, and financial employees that are now in such high demand. Human resources and job training are wanted in every field, and your job experience could be perfect for educating new employees.

 Accounting

As taxpayers nationwide prepare for tax season, recruitment and hiring throughout this field remains steady. The population is looking for the best financial assistance to make the most well-informed decisions regarding their investments, and the demand for accountants and financial professionals has only risen during the past few months, according to CNN News. Banking staff is also in demand as the public becomes more conscious of the importance of savings and loans. Given the economic circumstance, companies are trying to cut costs and stick to new budgets, and are seeking accountants and financial advisors to help them design and keep that regimen. Late investment scandals have also lead to forceful government crackdowns, and the need for IRS auditors has also made the career a sound choice.

Retail, Fashion, and Grocery

Although blue-collar jobs have suffered larger cuts in the past few months than white-collar positions, the demand for workers in the fashion, retail, and grocery industries remains one of the largest and broadest fields one may want to pursue. While the industry includes fiercer competition and offers less job security against future economic downturns, the demand for workers is more immediate. Though luxury retailers are feeling dramatically tighter budgets, basic commerce continues-diminished, but not as considerably as high-end luxury retailers. Retail remains one of the largest and most demanding markets.

Management and Executive Management

In this present economy, struggling or even cautious businesses are seeking strong and competent leadership to guide them through the country's present economic woes. Businesses are reinventing themselves to stimulate growth, as the old techniques and administrations have not protected them. In many cases, a change of management-in middle or even executive positions-seems to be the best or most popular course of action. If you have experience in management or leadership skills, consider stepping up to the plate!

WHY IS TELEPHONE COACHING SO EFFECTIVE?

phone coaching

Why has phone coaching become so incredibly popular?  You've probably wondered what that's all about, right?  How can someone effectively get life coaching or career coaching by phone?  Actually, coaching done by email, Instant Messenger, and telephone, is not only the most prevalent form of non-athletic coaching in the world, it is considered by many to be more effective than doing the same thing in person.  Why?

"Much of [actual coaching] takes place over the phone.  Many coaches and their clients have never met face to face.  But it may not be the face-time that matters most in managing to get the best out of [clients]."                                 -- Fortune Magazine

Think about it this way.  A sports coach is coaching an individual in a physical activity.  It stands to reason that the coach must be able to visually observe the activity and to give immediate feedback.  But not even all sports coaching is about the athlete's purely physical performance -- most of it is mental.  And life, career, or business coaching are the most interior of all.  The stuff of non-athletic coaching, such as personal or executive coaching, is precisely the interior life of the individual being coached.  How they look doing it is beside the point.  All the motion, all the change, is inside.

Location, Location, Location -- And the Phone Coach

Say it as many times as you want, location still doesn't matter in coaching.  Honestly, I have never seen or heard any explanation for why an in-person coach is better in any way.  And, in fact, the industry standard is the opposite:  nearly all coaching is done by phone.  So why do some people - always people who have never been coached before, interestingly enough -- imagine that coaching should be in person?

It can only be because these people do not know what coaching is.  Some people, for example, erroneously imagine that coaching must like the closest model they can think of:  therapy.  Based on this misunderstanding, they think we need to look at clients' faces, or to establish what therapists call a highly personal transference relationship that will model the client's relationship with his parents.

What we do when we coach does not depend on our being in the same room as you anymore than you need to be face-to-face with a loved one in order to advance certain types of important conversations.  Have you not discussed values and hurdles over the phone, made decisions, even broken up or gotten back together?  Sure.  You've taken action based on phone conversations that elicited that action.

Similarly, coaches identify goals, examine patterns, listen for excuses, ask for action, and enforce commitments.  Can your boss make you jump over the phone with a demand for answers?  Sure.  Can your parents inculcate guilt over the phone?  Of course they can.  That's because what they do in those conversations doesn't depend on what's visible.  The same is true of coaches in the conversations we have.

The misunderstanding that coaching must be like therapy is one thing coming from a person who is not a coach, but if you hear a coach telling you that you need to be in person, you should strongly reconsider whether what that person is doing is actually coaching.

In the end, I'd strongly urge you to find a coach with whom you have chemistry and whose style you like and go with your instincts.  Restricting your search geographically will greatly reduce the odds of finding just the right fit for you.  An in-person coach is also likely to charge more - he or she has to lease an office, among other things.

Phone coaching is also arguably even more effective than in-person personal coaching, and for the following reasons:

● it's more efficient -- no one has to travel, and there's much less of the ultimately wasteful chit-chat that characterizes face-to-face encounters (not to mention waiting in line for coffee)
 ● there are fewer distractions to divert either the coach or the client -- instead, we're laser-focused on the substance and delivery of what you say -- and don't say
● because it's more efficient, it's also less expensive
 ● with the global reach of the telephone, you're more likely to find the best coach for you!

The best thing about new profession of coaching is that its reach is as great as that of the Internet itself.  A review of the world of telephonic coaching will spot Florida coaching clients in Miami finding their best match with a life coach in New York, and British business coachingclients often fitting best with American business coaches with just the right experience for their coaching needs.  With the whole world to choose from, and no limitations on anyone, why would anyone choose to limit their search for the best coach for them?   The best coaching relationship is like a good marriage.  It's based in large part on chemistry.  And the smaller the net you throw, the lower the chances of having chemistry within that net, so there's only a slight chance that you and your best coach are within traveling distance of each other.  Enter the phone coach.
Clients have roadblocks in places they can't even see.  We hear these through the client's own reports; we don't follow the client around, of course.  See our success stories and recent breakthrough coaching conversations.
