Reaching Nations from College Station by Matt Morton, College Pastor
How did you spend your summer vacations when you were in college? If you're like me, you probably spent them working, catching up with friends, going to summer school, or relaxing at the beach or at home.
Every summer, though, a group of college students from Grace chooses to spend their time engaged in a less conventional way. This year, more than 40 students and young adults will spend the first half of the summer overseas, sharing the Gospel with other college students who have never heard the good news of eternal life. They will travel to East Asia, "Tradewinds" (a Muslim country), and Greece. In addition, Grace will send teams of youth and adults to India, Slovakia, Dominican Republic, and Swaziland.
Overseas missions have always been a foundational part of the ministry of Grace Bible Church. We believe strongly that we are called to fulfill the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20, to make disciples from every nation on earth until the day Jesus returns.
So how can you participate in what God is doing around the world this summer? Here are some ideas:- Pray. Pray that each team will be unified around the message of the Gospel and free from unnecessary conflict. Pray that they will be clear and effective in their presentation of the Gospel. Pray that students and adults will respond in belief and receive eternal life. Pray for safety, for financial provision, and for each student to return home with a desire to engage in the Great Commission for a lifetime. Download a short-term trips prayer calendar to learn how to pray more specifically.
- Give. Each of these men and women is responsible to raise several thousand dollars to cover their trip expenses. You and I can partner with them by supporting them financially. If you know one of the students going on a trip, ask how you can help. If you'd like more information about supporting the ministry of Grace Bible Church, visit our website. At least 20% of the general fund at Grace supports missionaries, including trips like these.
- Go! This year's trips are full, but consider going on a future trip. Nothing will open your eyes to God's work around the world like going on a mission trip. We have opportunities for nearly every age group. We also have a place for your unique abilities and gifts on one of our teams. Trip details are offered at our missions week in November.
We are excited to see how God is going to work through our teams this summer. Thank you for your prayers and ongoing support of the ministry of Grace Bible Church.
