SOTENI welcomes you to Kenya - "Karibu Kenya"!

September 16-29, 2012

 Greetings!

We are offering a 2 week trip as a SOTENI group.  This will be a unique experience, with opportunities that only SOTENI can offer.  You will be traveling with SOTENI staff from here in the US and in Kenya.  Each day will be a new adventure where you will learn about Kenya, the culture, the parks, and everyday rural life.  We will visit Maasai Mara reserve with a professional safari guide.  You will share in village life and have a chance to interact with community members in their homes, schools, churches, and health centers.  You will learn about SOTENI's work in Kenya and the people that we work with and the people we serve.  We will visit two of SOTENI's Villages of Hope and do a servie project.

We will take the time to sight see and enjoy local shopping.  We will visit the largest market in Western Kenya.  You can expect modest, comfortable lodging and simple, but delicious meals.  It is a great photographic opportunity and overall it is an opportunity of a lifetime.  You will be immersed in rural Kenyan life.

Space and time is limited so act quickly.

Karibu Kenya!

Safari beyond normal tourist boundaries with SOTENI and visit the homes, schools, and community areas of the local Luo and Luhya people.  Guided by Randie Marsh (SOTENI International) and the local Kenyan SOTENI staff, you will gain an exclusive entrance and understanding of the intimate details of local rural life in the SOTENI Villages of Hope. Learn first hand by visiting local schools and meeting SOTENI sponsored students, travel with a SOTENI health worker to learn about AIDS and visit the SOTENI Community Dispensary. This is a unique, off the beaten path journey that will immerse you in the ways of rural Kenyans: their lives, their food, their culture, and their challenges.

Enjoy the wonders of the Maasai Mara Reserve from the private Tented Camp of Ol Moran located on the banks of Ololalmutia River, which is a natural watering point for animals, especially elephants, buffalo, and antelope.  The spacious 15 en suite tents offer hot showers and a nearby communal dining and lounge area.  A professional safari guide will accompany you in a private safari vehicle, where every participant has a window seat. During the game drives, you will delve into the pristine wilderness, visiting some of the most coveted scenic sites with award-winning photographic opportunities.  Meals are served in the dining tent or outside under the indigenous  trees.
