As some may know, it was recently determined that this year's Madison County elections would be held under "new" Supervisor Districts and Justice Court Districts. This decision unnecessarily moved tens of thousands of Madison County citizens to new districts just weeks before the primary election resulting in disenfranchised voters and candidates. This rigging of the elections is just another example of the Board of Supervisors showing total disregard and disrespect to the people they are supposed to be representing.
As a result, Billy Redd, who had qualified to run for the open District 2 seat months before, ended up in the "new" District 3. After prayerful consideration, Billy Redd graciously withdrew from the race and threw his support and resources behind my campaign. Everyone needs to understand what has been going on in Canton, and every voter must watch Bill Billingsley's video explanation of the redistricting and read this related Madison County Journal article, LATINO/Game change midstream.
We have an opportunity to take back control of the Board of Supervisors, and I want to make sure we do our part by sending a strong message that Madison County voters believe that the way to get our county on the right track is through conservative principles and policies, as well as open, accountable government responsible to the people.
 | D.I. Smith - St. Catherine's Political Forum | We will not take anything for granted and will continue to work hard, but we can't do this without your help. We know we wouldn't be here now without your support.
Here are some ways that you can help us finish strong:
1. Put up a "D.I." yard sign.
2. Put a bumper or door magnet on your car.
3. Forward this email to all your Madison County friends on your email list.
4. On the weekend before Aug. 2nd, remind your friends to be sure to vote.
5. If you have friends who will be out of town on election day, please remind them to vote absentee.
6. Consider making a campaign contribution if you haven't done so already.
7. On election day, we need volunteers to hold our signs at the various polling precincts. If you would be willing to help and/or get others to help with that, we would be greatly appreciative.
8. Pray for my family, our friends and volunteers, and me as we work hard these last four weeks.
Many have been commenting on our innovative use of the QR (Quick Response) Code technology on campaign signs; and it has received lots of attention since it is the first use of QR Codes by a politician in Mississippi. As a result, hundreds have downloaded QR Code Scanner apps for their smart phones and are learning about how to apply them in their business, etc.
