Touring car
legend Allan Moffat, OBE, was the special guest at two product demonstration
days staged recently by Boylan Traffic Solutions.
The
demonstrations - held at Sydney's
Eastern Creek Raceway and Brisbane's Lakeside Raceway - were each attended by up to 60 guests and followed by hot laps in the Boylan race
team cars.
On show was
the groundbreaking BarrierGuard 800 steel safety barrier and SpeedCheck, a
compact, low-cost speed advisory sign used in a wide range of applications
including schools, shopping zones, warehouses, transport operations and commercial sites.
BTS managing
director Peter Boylan said the thrill of taking a spin around the track with
touring car champion Allan Moffat and celebrated motoring writer Peter McKay
was something his guests would remember for a long time.
"The smiles
on everyone's faces said it all,'' Peter said. "It was a great day and we're
very grateful to Allan and Peter and our other guest drivers for their generous support,'' he said.

Boylan
Traffic Solutions welcomes five new staff members to its rapidly-expanding team.
Narelle
Appleby comes to the role of Sydney Branch Manager with more than five years'
experience in the hire industry.
Narelle says
customer service is her primary focus.
"I love this
industry because every day is different," Narelle said. "And providing
solutions for my customers is a real driver for me."
NSW sales
executive Kerry Frew started his working life as a builder before forging a 30-year sales career
in building products.
"I'm really
enjoying the challenge of a new industry," Kerry said. "There a lot to learn,
but I'm loving it."
Danny Cimbaly spent 25 years as an engineer
and regional manager with a road surfacing company before taking up his NSW
sales executive role with Boylan's.
"I
understand the construction industry and that gives me a real edge in terms of
customer service," he said.
Queensland
sales executive Brad Morris owned an automotive repair shop for 12 years before
taking up his present role.
"Before that,
I used to work in sales and marketing, so I've really come back to something I
enjoy very much," he said.
Boylan's
new NSW Central Coast and Newcastle rep
is John Torr, a long-standing motor sport official and former touring car
competitor.
John began
his motorsport career in a Mini at Calder Park in 1965. He raced sports cars
with great success for two years in the UK before returning home to Australia to
work with General Motors as a mechanic. He owned Coalfields Motors, at Kurri Kurri,
from 1985 to 2009. John has been a
motorsport official for nearly 20 years and now serves as a voluntary technical
inspector.

Above: James Moffat competing in the recent 12-hour Bathurst classic James Moffat's championship hopes
BTS-sponsored
driver James Moffat enjoyed consecutive podium finishes on the streets of
Adelaide in Round 1 of the V8 Supercar Development Series last weekend.
James - the son of touring car legend Allan Moffat, OBE - was one of the pace-setters all weekend in his
debut outing in the #99 Norton 360 Ford Rising Stars Falcon. Race 1 saw James
initially slip back to third, but he recovered to a clear second position
behind former champion Steve Owen by races' end. It was a similar story in Race
2 as James consolidated behind Owen to take another second position in a fine
debut.
"It was a really satisfying weekend for us and I'm happy with how the team
performed in their first outing," James said.
James also performed
well at the recent Bathurst 12-hour race
where he teamed with Ken Douglas and Ray Hislop to take 6th place
outright and a 3rd in class.
James said his car ran faultlessly during the
race after being plagued by fuel- pump problems during practice.
"The race
was stopped for about 45 minutes when a tree fell down across the track - that
was really the only unforeseen problem," he said.
James said
that while he was happy the car had performed so reliably, there was room for
improvement.
"If we had
played the strategy a bit differently, I
think we could have had a stronger result," he said.
James said
he was delighted to have the support of Boylan Traffic Solutions.
"I am really
looking forward to the year ahead and feel I am in a strong position for the
championship," he said.

BTS site set for blues video clip Boylan's
Huntingwood site was the set recently for the filming of blues band
Stormcellar's latest video clip Don't Get Around Much.
A spokesman
for the band said the video followed in the footsteps of Bob Dylan's
Subterranean Homesick Blues, an iconic 1960s music clip featuring a multitude
of hand-written placards.
"We wondered
what Dylan would do if he was making the clip today?'' the spokesman said.
The answer they came up with was state-of-the-art VMS technology.
"Who needs
placards when you have the latest variable message signs?'' he said.
On its
website, Stormcellar gave a huge vote of thanks to Boylan staffers Dave Bell and Pat Jones who worked on the day as ad hoc stage
managers.
"Once again, we are only able to do this sort of thing
because of the selflessness and willingness of people to help out,'' the
spokesman said.
