James Moffat flies the flag for BTS Stunning performance sees young racer tipped as favourite

Boylan Traffic Solutions recently announced an exciting new sponsorship deal with James Moffat, a leading light in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series. Moffat's blistering performance in the third round of the series at Townsville last weekend has seen him propelled into the new position as title favourite. The Sonic Motor Racing Services driver and son of four-times Bathurst winner Allan Moffat, is a former Carrera Cup and Formula Ford Rookie of the Year. At Townsville, Moffat, 25, driving a Ford Falcon BF, won his first race in a time of 17:36.7551, beating television personality Grant Denyer, driving for Dick Johnson Racing, who came in 7th. In race two, the tables were reversed with Denyer fighting his way to first place, beating Moffat who came in third with a time of 21:50.2455. However, in race three, Moffat once again stamped his authority by recording the top time of 17:42.1585 - well ahead of 6th place Denyer.
After the race, Moffat said his car had delivered good speed without any problems.
`` After a bad second round of the championship, which dropped me from 2nd to 5th in the standings, Townsville was all about trying to fight back into title contention,'' Moffat said.
``Our strategy for the rest of the year is to continue to attack for the championship,'' he said.

BTS Australian Manufacturers' Championship
Free day out at Eastern Creek

Motor racing enthusiasts will be given free entry to Eastern Creek Raceway on Saturday, July 18 for the first of two days of action-packed competition in the Shannons National Championship Series. The free entry offer will be extended to both days of the series for wheelchair-bound fans - courtesy of businessman and performance car driver Peter Boylan, sponsor of the Boylan Traffic Solutions Australian Manufacturers' Championship and the promoter Australian Racing Drivers Club. A carer for each wheelchair-bound fan will also be admitted free. Special parking close to the pits will be made available on the day, with selected drivers on hand to meet the wheelchair-bound fans, their carers and family and friends. Series commercial manager Aaron McGill said the Boylan Traffic Solutions Australian Manufacturers' Championship was a key foundation stone - along with the 12-hour event at Bathurst - in the rebuilding of true production-based motorsport in Australia. ``It's why we are offering free admittance to motorsport enthusiasts on the Saturday,'' Mr McGill said. Mr McGill said the AMC field closely represented a modern-day version of the iconic days of sedan car racing in Australia when near-standard vehicles of all shapes and sizes competed. ``In the 1970s, it was the Falcon GT-HO, Chrysler Charger and the Torana XU-1 that fought for outright honours,'' he said. ``Today's racing sees the BMW, Mitsubishi EVO and Subaru WRX versus the Aussie V8 Commodore GTS and Falcon GT.'' Mr Boylan said the great names of racing - Allan Moffat, Colin Bond, Bob Morris, John Goss and Peter Brock - gave Australia a rich heritage of road-going motorsport . ``With exciting events like the AMC, production-based racing will be rediscovered by a whole new generation of competitors and fans,'' Mr Boylan said. Gates open at 8.30am on Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19. Entry is free to all on Saturday, while tickets on Sunday can be bought at the gate for $20, with children under 12 free. On Sunday, wheelchair-bound fans and their carers should make their way to Gate 7 for their free entry. |
Jayson and Russell's great endeavour
The Boylan Traffic Solutions logo will be smeared with the mud of the tropical north over the next two weeks as sponsored drivers Jayson Hodges and Russell Carrier match their wits against other teams in the Great Endeavour Rally. The rally, now in its 22nd year, starts from Mackay and takes drivers on a course through Queensland's north to Cape York, and down again to Townsville. Boylan Traffic Solutions managing director Peter Boylan said he was delighted to sponsor Jayson, a transport supplier for BTS, and his father-in-law Russell in the Great Endeavour, a fundraising initiative for people with disabilities. The pair first entered the event in 2008. ``We didn't manage to complete the course then, so finished about 40th,'' Jayson said. ``But we learned a lot and have come back fired up and determined to do much better this time,'' he said. The rally serves up a punishing schedule and is not for the faint-hearted. ``Mostly, we sleep rough in a swag,'' Jayson said. ``We get our meals provided and there's some pretty basic washing and toilet facilities, but by about day seven, you're dreaming of the comforts of home.'' | |
