President's Message
Dear Colleagues,
We Asked and You Told Us: Preliminary "Survey Monkey" Results Out.
We received several good ideas for speakers and events and are working on even more as you will see throughout this newsletter.
By the way, our members have told us that most found our 2009 meeting topics of interest, the speakers engaging, felt our social events were held often enough and were of interest to them. Most prefer holding luncheon meetings and holding them at the Junior League, Maggiano's or the Briar Club. Most of our folks specialize in commercial land, industrial properties, office and retail with their primary activities being brokering sales, buyer representation and consulting. The most frequent sub-specialties cited are financial analysis and site selection.

Kudos to Ed Taravella, CCIM
At its recent luncheon, Lisa Clark, the immediate past-President of GHBA singled out our Ed Taravella, CCIM for special recognition. Ed has served in many leadership positions in that association and continues to do so as head of its Developer's Council and on its Board of Directors. Here is her quote "There is another individual who agreed to shepherd the Leland Woods (residential) project along several years ago. He was to be paid for his time, but graciously served without compensation taking the project through some very tough times and negotiating a sale to the City of Houston last year. Please give lots of thanks to Ed Taravella."

Tip of the Month from STDBOnline.com
How Do I Access Crime Data Inside Site Analysis 3.0 ?
STDBOnLine offers a number of crime statistics within the "Thematic Mapping Tool" located inside Site Analysis 3.0. Simply click the "Thematics" button on the toolbar in the upper right hand corner of your screen and scroll down under the Database tab to "Crime Data". From there, select a crime index under the Variable tab. In order to view this crime data correctly and layer it appropriately on the map, you must be ZOOMED in close enough for the "Variable" tab to show the different crime indexes.
The crime thematics layers (Total Crime Index) is based on the number of reported incidents per specific census block. The data is gathered annually by AGS (Applied Geographic Solutions).
Please click on the link below and select "Site Analysis 3.0 Help Manual" under the Helpful Documents column.
