President's Message
Dear Colleagues,
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness. . ." Although written 150 years ago, this opening line in Charles Dicken's A Tale of Two Cities aptly describes today's real estate industry. While unable to change the market, our Chapter's energetic, new Leadership Team has plans and programs already underway to insure that 2010 will be "the best of times" for us.

Legal Update
Restructuring of CMBS Loans Submitted by George S. Craft, Jr., Wilson, Cribbs & Goren, P.C.
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the Treasury released new tax rules in an effort to ease the restructuring of commercial-mortgage-backed securities ("CMBS") loans. Until recently, tax rules made it difficult for borrowers who were current with their loan payments to have discussions with CMBS loan servicers about lowering interest rates or increasing the term of the loan.
