SCORE, "Counselors To America's Small Business", is A Resource Partner With The United States Small Business Administration (SBA), helping individual business owners succeed. As a volunteer organization of retired and semi-retired executives, SCORE offers free, confidential one-on-one counseling to anyone opening a business or needing advice for solving problems in an existing business. Counselors initially work with clients from the first "idea" meeting through business start-up and then continue to advise or mentor whenever needed.

The SCORE counseling staff has expertise in a wide variety of career fields, enabling them to assist future entrepreneurs create a realistic, workable "Business Plan", which is the foundation of every business. The general guidelines used in formulating a precise "Business Plan" are:

1. a comprehensive definition of that specific business;

2. managerial structure;

3. employee requirements and benefits;

4. guidelines for daily activities;

5. customer base;

6. location and hours of operation;

7. lease options;

8. security;

9. budget and financial planning;

10. inventory and supplies;

11. daily expenses, maintenance and insurance;

12. marketing and competition;

13. net margin and growth projections;

14. loan requirements.  

In addition to free, confidential one-on-one business counseling with experienced executives, SCORE conducts a monthly Workshop for a nominal fee. Through this intensive day long Workshop and on-going personal counseling, SCORE gives you the tools to help create your own successful entrepreneurial venture.
